Nice concept that is well executed. All I had a problem with was that the player could leave the world from the start. You should have made it that the player had to explore some areas first before waking up.

I got a chuckle outta it.

We have a list here of 20 common pitfalls. Sufficiently criticized and organized. That's it, that's the whole thing. The criticism is neither instructional nor especially insightful. That's my hang up with this, I wouldn't direct anyone here to learn anything. I’ll explain why I feel this way by example.

So in “Extremist Views” I expected clever parody, but instead it’s a slog of spelling and grammar mistakes. Types of errors need to be in isolation. I’d also argue that bad ideology isn’t the same thing as bad mechanical writing. The problem with ideological writing is that a writer might be prone to incredible leaps in logic. They build up the hero to carry their ideology then set up numerous strawmen for their hero to knock down with the greatest of ease.

“Love Fantasies” is similar. The grammar and spelling isn’t what I’m looking to have a laugh at here. Still this one was pretty funny, though I would have liked to have seen it even more overwritten. I really wanted to feel the desperation, you know?

I think the purpose of “I will guide you” might be to demonstrate when an author doesn’t “show” and simply “tells,” while also criticizing authors who self-aggrandize and won’t hear criticism, but maybe it’s just the second. I don’t know. This is weird. I also don’t know if it's the narrator or the bad writer I’m listening to here. No less, none of these examples instruct the reader. They merely demonstrate bad writing.

“Just don’t do like this” is not itself good advice.

Hahaha! Great idea, and well executed. I think "Plagiarism" was my favorite. I did notice that in some of the links, apostrophes and/or accented characters were garbled, like so: weren’t

But that's a very minor quibble. Thanks for this handy guide to bad writing!

This is great. This is a bit old so you might not even care about this review, but I don't know why the ratings aren't higher! The only real problem is the punctuation. You can't end a sentence like "example" you need to end it with a comma, period, or... - I don't know the name of it exactly.

Good points, but I wish you would have added some real capitalization.

I cannot say this enough. THANK YOU for showing people how to actually write well. I despise poor grammar, and if a story has really terrible grammar, I will not even bother to read it (I'm sorry if this sounds snotty or hypocritical).

Anyway, this was a very good way to teach people what good and bad writing is. I give it a 6/8, because nothing is better than Reese's cups.

The author has managed to include most every form of bad writing possible, and deserves commendation. I cannot imagine how much pain one would go through to write so badly.
It would have been better if there were more types of endings, or a story with all the types of bad writing.
Overall, very fun!

Wow, you even included Mary Sues here!

It does er- a good bad job of showcasing common traits of bad writing. I guess the irony is it highlights faults by merely existing.

Coming from a readers point of view. I believe it could have done a better job of defining bad writing traits. At times I couldn't fully understand the problem it tried to address which leaves room for misinterpretation.

To simply force home the agony of reading a story with horrible grammar and slightly incoherent lessons it does a good job. I certainly feel like I was in The Land of Bad Writing.
