Halo Story help?

Well, if you hadn't seen it already, I'm working on a story (HALO: The Final Days of Earth)  and in this story, you are a UNSC soldier who is being pinned down as the Covenant plans to make a last and final strike on Earth. During the game, you are given various choices that decide what people think of you. Halfway through the battle, backup arrives, but this isn't the regular backup, this is Spartan backup. The last Spartan reported In Action was 117, who recently was M.I.A. (Spartans never die, they're just missing in action.)

So (if you don't want minor spoilers, don't read on!) you go to an old city that was destroyed by the Covenant in the Human-Covenant War (aka the Great War) and was never rebuilt. It is near major cities, and the Covenant are going to use it as a jumping point to wipe out the other cities, so you are apart of a Spartan unit to take out the early Covenant forces. They neutralize the threat, then put UNSC forces and civillians in to reuild it into a jumping point to defend the major cities. I don't know where to bring the story after that.

(there are 8 spartans, Icharus, Romulus, Remus, Dylan, Slim, Elliot, Damun, and Blank)

So, what kind of help do you need?

Follow lore if you want, a good fanfiction should be accepted well.

Anyway, to help you more I have to know more about who the main character(s) is/are and if your going to be using the Halo-2 and Halo-3 Campaign as a guideline then that would be nice to know.

Also due to my Sangheili bias I highly recommend at least gives a scene(page) or two about the Brutes and Elites fighting on Earth during the invasion.

I'm unsure if it's a good idea to have so many Spartans on earth since the majority of them were dead by the time the Battle for Earth happened. Maybe you could switch them into ODST's instead?

Okay, well, the story is set a few years after the Human-Covenant war, so a few years after 2552. You,(Elias) are a part of the UNSC, not a Spartan. You wake up then hear noises and find out the Covenant is attacking again. Then, just before you're about to die, a long lost group of Spartans comes to the rescue. The main Spartans are Dylan, who is a bulky guy, compare him to Jorge, he's a little bigger. Romulus, he's the Omega of the squad, he's the second in charge and has a cruel sense of humor. He fights dirty, wears a white MARK VI with a cross on the Chestplate. Remus, he's the leader of the group, He's basically Carter (from HALO: Reach) but wears the same white armor as Romulus, but without the cross.

Your friend, Blackjack, also fights dirty, a little taller than you, is a reble in a way, and follows you through the entire campaign.

If it's after the H-C war then it's unlikely the fragments of the covenant who are still loyal to the Prophets would be able to launch an invasion of any size against Earth. Maybe if you put in in a distant colony that held out/went unnoticed by the covenant during the H-C war and happens to be near the Brutes territory, that way the story would make more sense.

Also remember that all Spartans after the H-C war are either trapped or MIA(until Halo 4 for MC-117). If the story is slightly behind or even during Halo-4 then you can use Spartan-IV's for your Spartans.

Just in case you were wondering. lol But if you going with your own canon or backgrounds on your Spartans then by all means use those. Same with how the Brutes manage to invade Earth(or a colony) despite the collapse of the covenant and their major war with the Elites.

Here or Here for easy access to the Halo-Lore all the way up to the end of Halo-4.

I just have one question, though. Are the brutes sided with the Covenant, because I know they helped invade Reach, but they weren't in all the halos, unlike the Elites and the Grunts and other Covenant dudes.

The Brutes are part of the original Covenant but they were generally not trusted by all but the Prophets(who only used them as tools) and generally kept away from important relics like the Halos or Forerunner artifacts until Halo 3(+ODST).

As of Halo 3(+ODST) The Brutes and Elites are at war with each other, this happens during the Elites secession from the Covenant.   The Brutes are more or less at their prime in this particular stage due to massive support from the Prophets and the most of the covenant helping them.

As for the Brutes by Halo 4? They've been losing a war with the Elites(Human friendly or not) for years and their own constant infighting isn't helping them.   So basically they've been reduced to a back-ground noise and are not a major threat now.

So when is your Halo Story taking place? What's the year or game period?

My halo story isn't happening during any game, in fact, it is way after Halo 4, and even though something else may happen while I'm making this, like a Halo 5 (which IS coming out sometime) I'm still making it. It is set in year 2667, and the plot line(from the title) is the destruction of Earth, and if you can save it from the Covenant and banish them for good. (Obviously there would have to be a neutral Covenant planet during all this that finally decided to wage war on Earth, so that's what is happening.)

Interesting, well if you can make the survival of the covenant possible because it was basically going to die completely after Halo 4.

Maybe they discover another couple Forerunner battleships and use those to fight of the Sangheili(Elite) forces and attack earth for revenge against humanity+the demon(MC-117)

Up to you really. Just ask here if you need any more help. :)

I never really played ODST, and I know they're associated with UNSC, but are they a branch of UNSC or just a task force?

ODST General Info

ODST Armor Info

The ODST's were basically the Spartans before the Spartans. The Orbital Drop Shock Troopers are a spec-ops organization of the UNSC that are more or less made for shock strikes and specialized warfare tactics.

The Info above states that they are one of the primary Spec-Ops forces in the UNSC and are under supervision by the NSWC.

Nearly all ODST's come from a different spec-ops organization and thus; are all highly trained and experienced veterans in the field, they basically form a military unit that does what other normal and spec-ops forces can't do.

They are very similar to the Spartans except they are not Enhanced, Trained or Indoctrinated into UNSC doctrine like a Spartan would be. They also do not have the experimental(MJOLNR armor) or stolen covenant technology(shields and whatnot) like the Spartans.

If it helps as an example Sgt: Johnson was a Spartan I and most of the surviving Spartan I's went to become ODST's. But the Spartan II's are far more powerful than a Spartan I.

So in short, ODST's are a more common and weaker version of the Spartans we know, like Master Chief. But it is possible a lot of Spartan IV's are simply upgraded versions of an ODST soldier.
