So, you see, about 40 minutes ago I sat in front of my tv and turned it on. I was welcomed by a movie on FOX called “Waterworld”. I watched it for 20 minutes before getting off the couch and sitting in front of my computer to write this. I thought the concept of the movie was amazing, and I wondered how it wasn’t used before. I searched it on IMDb and found that it got a 6.1/10, but I would give it a 7… My critiques aside, this movie sparked in me an idea… If you have time, listen to it:
So, the concept is same, the polar caps melted and there’s very little to no land. But you see, the big brains of humanity saw this coming, and since there was no way to convince filthy humans to stop the global warming, they sought to prepare for it. There were 10 cities built on five oceans, standing on the water (two for each ocean). Their goal? To provide hope for survival and rebuilding for what’s left of societies. You see, most of them were packed with A LOTTT of earth, clean water and plants. Also, because it’s very hard to get a sense of direction on a planet with only water, so people built landmarks on the ocean. Things ranging from big statutes to just a big pole in the middle of nowhere, with coordinates on it. Also, cartographers made maps of oceans with these landmarks on them, and distributed them over a device called the MTWSI (Multi-tool Water Surviving Information), or MT as people call it. It would connect to your ship and monitor the state of it as well as show you the map… Oh, it wasn’t much bigger than a tablet. However, things like the cities were never properly finished, as end came too soon. It didn’t suddenly though. The height of water kept rising, and people started to make their own towns and boats on water, utilizing all of these devices. Only one city was ever found by people of today’s world, as their existence was kept secret (More will be explained in the story game.). However, this city named “Hope” contained a lot of water and seeds, but not that much dirt. Thankfully, there are animals on it, so it’s not that hard to get dirt… It’s enough for plants, but not enough for making land.
Wow, I’m getting ahead of myself… I am not going to give away any information on the factions or that stuff, but only that the game takes place 150 years after the ice caps melted.
So, what’ you make of the idea?
