Hello friends! If you remember me at all, I'm back from the dead my very long hiatus, and I am so truly sorry for my lack of activity on this site, but I just keep coming back to it! I've decided that I need to commit myself so that I can truly root myself into the community, so I plan on making a story game to get things going. After reviewing my older story games that I haven't published, but worked on, it didn't look too good, personally, for me on the writing horizon. But I feel really confident about this story because it contains an amalgamation of a bunch of my personal favorite stories and concepts into one big...well, story game! I don't want to give too much of the plot away, but if anyone thinks they may be able to help me get a title going at the least, that would be awesome, and I'll post some info about it. The entire story will actually be distributed among separate story games themselves, all of them connecting to each other through time (in a linear fashion: the first story game will be the earliest in the time period of the story, and the last story game will be the "end" of the story, the latest in the time period). Each story has a main antagonist who, in a general way, seeks to conquer the world (and btw, it's not our world. Alternate reality stuff, blah blah blah, you (hopefully?) get the point) and it's your job as the protagonist to stop their plans. You'll encounter various people with very distinct personalities and abilities to aid you in your righteous quest, and you can utilize them both on the battlefield and off to create a true story for you, while playing a game at the same time. You can die, and so can your allies if you are careless with them.

I'd maybe give it some type of name like "___quest" or maybe a title like you'd expect from Greek stories?

Unless each of these stories can work as a standalone, this is something that's really not encouraged here. For one thing you lock the player into a linear path, with their choices in each section of the game and the endings they wind up with being meaningless. Secondly, you only hurt yourself since new players are less and less likely to be willing to jump into a continuing story as it goes on. Even the most recent example of a series done right, Will11's Magellan series, suffers from a lack of reviews because of this.

I see...that does put my work into perspective. I'll have to think about how I'm going to work out the story games. Thank you for the input!
