Quicksand

I love it

This is certainly entertaining. One minute you're staving off unwanted advances through the use of bludgeoning that person with an Oscar, and the next you're navigating the pitfalls of being some kind of cougar? Hard to pin down a set destination as to where the story was going at times. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I find story-games like this to make for fun reads.

Okay, so, to start things off I wanna thank you for posting this story! Definitely was a fun read! I must say that I find some of the dialogue quite humorous and that the way you set up the car crash fake out early on was well done. Though, it took me a second to realize what you meant by The Director.

I believe your main character matched with your concept really well- I mean, to be fair, who wouldn't want to play as a washed up movie star with a bit of a god complex. And that's a good lead up to my absolute favorite part of this little story: The murdering with the Oscar is equal parts funny, fucked up, and uncomfortable. It makes you both enjoy beating the shit out of some asshole, but also not want to trust this little voice.

I do have a really big gripe. There is a ink within the story ("Wake, up childe!" Someone whispers in your hear.) that simply isn't clickable. I know that this wash rushed for a contest but you should absolutely look into that and see whats up. Unless it is meant to be that way and I'm just absolutely dumb.

Overall, decent job and worth a read. Thanks for the experience, Mara!

With Mara's stories, you're always in for a wild ride. While I still have difficulty understanding some of the more "ESL" parts, I find myself enthralled by the creativity of Mara's imagery. Things like:

"The ghost approaches you, slowly lowering its gaze like a labrador retriever after mischief"

and

"Your heart beats like a military tambourine."

These are unique descriptors that you'll never find anywhere else. As the reader, I'm kept on my toes throughout, and one thing Mara's stories doesn't lack is raw entertainment.
