Explosions can be heard in the distance. The beach was getting hammered with everything the Germans got. Artillery hit the sand like if it was nothing. The boats in the ocean felt the explosions rock the boat, swaying it from side to side. The American soldiers were in doubt of whether or not they would come out of this alive.
Insecurity raises and so does the stakes. You, though, you are just a measly Private. Although you heard tales of gruesome death, you also heard of tales of Valor and Strength. You kept those two things in your heart. Your only sixteen, but you lied about your age, stating you are eighteen. Hopefully, you can come back to your hometown, hailed as a hero. Maybe you can find love with your fame and glory.
