The Labyrinth of Mizero

This was a pretty okay story. It's not anything terribly special, just another puzzle game with a paper-thin plot like many that have come before it. That said, it's not a necessarily a bad game either. Though not terribly challenging, the puzzles are satisfying enough to complete, and simply exploring the sewer tunnels is enjoyable enough on it's own. These authors have shown some promise with this, leaving me with no doubt that if they really got serious, they could produce something pretty impressive.

As previously stated, the puzzles are the main selling point of this story. They mostly consist of multiple choice riddles with little diversity thrown in. There are also a few item based solutions to problems, mostly basic stuff like finding keys or giving an NPC a particular item. There is also the matter of exploring the Labyrinth itself, which is mostly just clicking links until something new is discovered. If the story had been any longer than it was, this would probably have gotten old fast, but since it's only about a 45-60 minute read, it's not given the chance to overstay it's welcome.

If you're one of those people who isn't a huge fan of these sorts of games, I'd skip this one and go play something else. The plot is pretty generic, just an excuse to give our protagonist a reason for solving these puzzles. I'm sure most of us have seen almost the exact same storyline (regular person forced to partake in government-imposed death games) countless times before. Right off the top of my head, I can think of two or three novels with similar plots with far more depth than this. There are only two real characters to speak of, the protagonist and a one-off NPC. Between the two of them, they've got about two personality traits, with the NPC holding 75 percent of them. Our main character's only defining feature is that she wants to get back to her family. Aside from that, she's just a blank slate for the reader to project themselves onto. Some may disagree, but I don't particularly like these sorts of protagonists even in games like this. There are so many more interesting things that can be done with them, it's a total waste to leave them like that unless you have a specific reason to.

That aside, I don't want to give the impression that I completly disliked the game. As others have already said, there was obviously a lot of effort that went into this. I didn't notice any major grammar errors and the sentences flow nicely. There is a decent amount of polish present. I also liked how there were different endings depending on your actions in the labyrinth. Though I couldn't be bothered to go back and replay the game slightly differently just to see a different final page, I can imagine what some of the other endings would have looked like. It was a nice touch that really made my play-through feel a little more unique. Somewhat related to that, I also enjoyed some of the little extra details thrown in for flavor, like being given the option to either kick the rats or pet them. Despite it's flaws, this story isn't completly without value and at very least deserves some constructive feedback.

If you like puzzles this story is worth at least a little of your time, so go ahead and give it a try. I hope to see more from these authors in the future to see how much they grow. This was fun, thanks for the entertainment. 4/8

Overall, a competent game that does some things well and some things poorly. These are the tags that should be placed on this story, which currently has no tags: Action Adventure, Dystopia, Female Protagonist, Puzzle, and Thriller.

Here are my thoughts:
The introduction was well-written, and provided a few subtle hints for the intended strategy.
The labyrinth wasn't bad. It had many dead ends and alternate passageways, much like a labyrinth would.
There was some description added, and I would expand on that, particularly the sensory description included.
It's strange how, in order to get the perfect ending, one has to avoid destroying property of the government who kidnaps people for a reality show.
Speaking of which, when I did destroy the camera in my first playthrough, the text did not change to signify that I had destroyed it.
This was not the only error in continuity I noticed, mostly due to reusing text.
One other nitpicky thing: The answer to SFYNX 5 Riddle 2 was supposedly "dryness". However, dryness does not need air to survive. I would argue that the correct answer is instead "fire".
Overall, I had fun!

Fun little game, I see that you had put a lot of effort into it. I like the tidbits of humor sprinkled throughout. For example, the option to kick or pet a rat.

To be honest, it was very disorienting to navigate throughout the game. Perhaps it was conscious choice to do so, but it made a frustrating experience.
One way to solve it, is to perhaps make a map for the player or mention in the description that you would probably need a pen or a paper.

This has pretty good potential but feels like a bit of a confusing experience. Really spent more time clicking on the links than actually reading the story. But this was a good game overall I suppose. A bit short but was setup for a sequel in the ending where you survive.

The writing, while decent isn't enough to quite carry a story such as this. Though to be honest there is some solid potential here, a decent effort all around.

The writing itself is decent, it's just that this is a very clicky game with lots of going in circles, as might be guessed from it being about a maze. And I kept seeing references to a way to the south with a bar missing when there was no actual option to go south.

I may come back to this and make a more serious afternoon at it later. It's clear some effort went into it, but the problem is there isn't much by way of plot and so not a lot of motivation here unless you specifically like these kinds of puzzley games for their own sake.
