I don't believe that's necessarily meta-gaming. Metagaming, as commonly defined, is is any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed rule set, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. Briar tells you the values by which your stats increase or decrease, so it's fairly obvious that she wants you to keep up with them. Of course, she doesn't tell you what values you need to yield certain results. But you, as a player, know that these stats and relationship values will have an affect on the game. Therefore, by keeping track of these values, you are not going outside of a prescribed set of rules or using outside factors to influence the outcome of the game.
