In this text-based video game, players play as a man named He Guangming, a Chinese worker who came to the American West for financial stability. Throughout the game, players will be presented with multiple choices that impact He Guangming’s experience, such as his working conditions, chances to send money home, housing, health, relationships to other characters, etc. The story will happen in the span of 3 to five years—depending on the choices taken by players. This interactive novel aims to explore both the external and internal challenges that come with having to immigrate from your home country into another one. Grappling with homesickness, discrimination, the desire to fit in, financial problems, etc. As He Guangming meets different characters, adapting to his life in the U.S, he will have to navigate a complex, often hostile world. Through the branching storylines, players will witness the different faces of the Westward expansion.
