Hey there, I'm James, also known as Derek Metaltron. I did once join the site very very briefly years ago (not sure exactly when) when I was young and full of dreams. XD Anyway now I'm back and more determined than ever to get some solid interactive fiction up somewhere, and here is as good a place as any! I'm especially fond of doing gamebooks, interactives and exploration sims/discovery tours for some of my favourite IPs including possibly: - Star Wars - Doctor Who - Marvel - DC - Star Trek - Hitman - Horizon (Zero Dawn/Forbidden West) - Fallout - Elder Scrolls Skyrim - Detroit: Become Human - Assassins Creed - Avatar: The Last Airbender And probably something original too if I can think of the right concepts! My long term dream is to create a gamebook based on the Critical IF system designed by Dave Morris (who wrote Heart of Ice, Down Among the Dead Men and Fabled Lands alongside other things), but currently I am thinking of creating something straight forwards to start with, which is most likely going to be an exploration sim/discovery tour for Star Wars (inspired by the Shire Exploration game I found on here) and using inspiration from the Fantasy Flight RPG line that if things go well could eventually could become a full on fan gamebook. Maybe. I might bite off more than I can chew. ':) Anyhoo, nice to be here and hoping I can do you all proud! :)

Star Wars Edge of the Empire - Mos Shutta Discovery Tour
unpublished
Explore the dusty and dry streets of Mos Shutta, an elevated settlement on the desert planet of Tatooine in this expansive exploration sim style game! This is designed to be a companion piece to a more immersive future gamebook adventure in the Star Wars universe, adapting and inspired by elements from the Edge of the Empire Role Playing Game by Fantasy Flight both official and fan made. In this Discovery Tour of Mos Shutta you will be able to: - Explore the streets of a Tatooine settlement mere weeks after the events of A New Hope, where all the excess and dangers of the Outer Rim resides (albeit without the threat of death by blaster, vibro-axe and Krayt Dragon mauling in this exploration sim). - Encounter and question an array of local characters with numerous sympathsies and connections to the local criminal factions, the Rebellion or the Galactic Empire, who will all appear in a future Gamebook by the same author. - Get caught up in a number of interesting encounters as you explore Mos Shutta by day and night - ride a Drewback to a Tusken camp, poke about the foreboding ship of a Trandoshan Bounty Hunter, listen to the tales of a crabby Cantina owner from Ryloth or relish the luxury -and secret horrors - of a local Hutt's palace. Maturity Level: I would place this to being suitable for anyone over the age of 12, with some situations of implied violence and criminal activities.

Sadly whilst there might be one or two force sensitives in the gamebook, the Edge of the Empire side of the Star Wars RPG focuses on characters who are smugglers, bounty hunters, explorers and hired guns on the Outer Rim, so no Jedi I'm afraid. The Mandalorian and Book Of Boba Fett is likely to be the most similar style of storyline.

Erm, no? I just happened to ask about M/F content on one site on a few occasions, I never got that angry about it. There’s plenty of interesting games being made via COG, romance or not (though probably way too many involving magic schools or dating supernaturals). To each their own I guess anyway.

Star Wars Tatooine Exploration Sim: Ideas/Requests on 1/10/2022 10:49:43 AM
So as I mentioned in the Newbie section I am planning out a Exploration Sim or Discovery Tour (inspired by the Shire interactive and the recent Assassins Creed games) for Star Wars as part of a larger and more complex and interactive I hope to make in the future, based upon and adapting elements of the Edge of the Empire Role Playing Game and its sister games (Age of Rebellion and Force and Destiny). The tour will cover a settlement on the desert world of Tatooine which the reader will be able to explore freely, interacting with the local characters and locations. Whilst I do have some elements in mind already, I clearly would like to include stuff people might have want to see, so I am creating this thread for any questions, suggestions or requests people might have! :) I will also try and use this thread to talk about progress on this and related stuff. Thanks again!

Thanks Gower! I think the diversity of game types is a good one and I do like the idea of trying things out - I especially am considering the idea of games with non-human protagonists (lizard people, aliens, driders, cute cats etc) so there's an idea for a possible challenge. But I am probably going to focus on my Star Wars Exploration style game for now I think.

That was my old account, thanks! I wasn't banned from COG though, I still post there infrequently, I might have been temporary locked out for a time though (probably via voicing issues with Hearts Choice not having solid M/F romances I suspect) but no harm done.

Thanks for the suggestion mizal! I did leave a nice review of it a few days ago as it happens, but I definitely think checking out what works and what might be better and leaving the ever valuable 'constructive critique' is always a nice touch. :)

Thanks Whizzycat!

Thanks! I find it easier to create something when I have a pre generated world to understand and play in, especially if it's a big one with lots of possibilities like Star Wars or Avatar or Doctor Who. Never say never for something more original of course, especially if I opt to try one of the writing challenges for some practice! I happen to be 35 so I am definitely not part of the 'younger' group. XD

Thanks Ogre, I hope so too!
