Bigger Textarea in Editor

Right now the textarea in the advanced editor is very small (also note: the textarea for profile editing is very small, but it kind of has to be for all the other stuff).

rows=8, that's fine but I think that it would be great top have height set to 500 or 700 instead of 250.

Currently the textarea will fill window with the set width being a variable dependant on window size - however the height stays the same no matter what size the window is.

You can fit 7 lines before having the scrollbar activate.

What I'm saying is 250 pixels is not sufficient for comfortable viewing or editing in the advanced editor (not sure about the basic editor - haven't used it) to write a story and check over the work. So my wish is for a bigger textarea for the advanced editor.

As a bonus, the profile page editor box could be bigger - but that's not very important since all those buttons and stuff are in the way (although, I'm not sure if a larger textarea would affect their placement)

Can't you drag the box out to be larger?

Bigger Textarea in Editor

Nope. It's set in code size; no dragging it out feature.

This may just be me, but I see an arrow on the bottom-right of every text-box (whether on my profile, forum posting, or advanced editor textbox).

I dunno.

No you're right. There's an arrow in the bottom right that you can click and drag.

Dunno why Ford can't see it.

Am I blind? o-o I've never seen anything that looks like an arrow ever on a textarea box...

This is a feature of some browsers, not the site.

Huh. Something is wrong with your advance editor.

There is suppose to be a gray bar above Link Text. On the right hand corner of the gray bar, there is suppose to be an arrow pointing toward the lower right hand corner. Dragging that arrow is suppose to enlarge the text area.

I don't see nothing

You need to be using the rich text editor I suppose then.

rich text editor has so many problems that it's just annoying so I'll save using rich text editor until it's fixed xD

What kind of browser are you using?

IE 11

You filthy casual.

IE FTW!

Firefox and Chrome kill my system :P don't know why, they just do; and I've heard people say IE is slow but I've been using IE for at least 5 years and everything loads perfectly and instant. I think people are just butthurt that they don't have good internet connection or something (maybe they have tons of plugins or add-ons). Or maybe they're trying to overload their browser with 15 tabs open at the same time using 5MB of imaging data to keep up with social networks xD I usually only have 2 - 3 tabs open at the most. I'm old fashioned casual I guess :P

That begs the question: what computer are you using?

Bigger Textarea in Editor

Various computers, all of them use Windows 7 OS - macs are just polished crap.

My main computer that I use for browsing, bitcoin mining, and sometimes gaming is an Alienware Aurora R4 - it's a nice tower, and hooked up to duel monitors is nice. For travel I use a Toshiba Satellite L755 - which I don't do much on, mostly word documents or image editing programs. But IE loads fine on both, might just be my internet connection / speed?

That begs the question: what internet connection are you using?

Bigger Textarea in Editor

Uhh you mean my internet service provider? For internet connection I have an old router downstairs from like 2001 and it still works perfectly fine. My current ISP is Cox, but when I move in august it'll be Google fiber, which I've heard isn't too bad ;)

That begs the question: actually I don't have any more questions.

Bigger Textarea in Editor

how about "Why can't you see the damn arrow to drag out the text area?"

Bigger Textarea in Editor

Well, there's no point to asking that, since you probably don't have the answer to that-

If you did, you wouldn't be here asking. ;P

Bigger Textarea in Editor

Because it's not there at all! And so I wish it would be put there! :D

And so there goes another vague answer to a specific question...xD

IE has gotten a lot better over the years from what I've heard.

Still, shame on you.

I agree with this. Ability to drag out text boxes to make them bigger aside (and can't be done by everyone anyway). Some of us use lots of code, and then also make real quick changes. It's a bit annoying to have to drag it out to a reasonable size each time. I vote making it bigger :)

Bigger Textarea in Editor

Note: Not using the advanced editor right now, and I can drag it just fine. Instead of an arrow you get 6 grey dots on the bottom-right corners that need to be dragged out.

I don't see anything, as proved by the pictures above. What browser are you using?

Bigger Textarea in Editor

Internet Explorer 11 (Main Browser):

Google Chrome (horrible memory-hog backup browser I never use):

Fire fox.

Hmm yeah I don't have firefox... I figured two browsers was good enough. I'll have to do some research on firefox to see it's cookie policy and if it's any better on my system than IE

Back before Microsoft abandoned me with Win8, I only used Opera; I haven’t tried it in Ubuntu (just using Firefox now), but I haven’t used IE for 15 years (through Win95, 98, 2000, XP, and Win7). Too many security risks in my opinion, especially since I’m a small business owner and rely on my data not being compromised.  Firefox is great unless you want to play CYOA Movies.
