Writing Romance, any tips?

I was thinking of two girls, and you can pick either them or a non romantic route. Each would have a choice and then go forward. But picking the same choice leads you further in the storyline of each, but I am having trouble gating the women seprately from each other.

since I want you choosing either to be at the end.

So after you get to know them and see the plot, you pick either your family, or either girl, and then that will supply your ending. Does that work?

I honestly am having trouble comprehending what you're trying to say.

You are having trouble because you want to make 2 separate paths for the girls, but still give MC the option of choosing either at the end?  You want the game to be totally linear, with only multiple endings?

"Romance" is not choosing a girl.  One of the major flaws, I think, in visual novels is the way they generally shunt the MC onto one particular girl's path almost immediately, then the rest of the "choices" are nothing more than right/wrong decisions to complete the story.

No, I want two story lines going concurrently, at the end you choose the girl, or choose not to

I'm not sure how to offer advice on romance 'cause I'm honestly horribly cynical about it in CYOAs. xD

Are you confident you can creative two separate, distinctive personalities that can be both likeable and engaging to a wide variety of players? If so, you'll do fine. If not... well... >_>

Yeah, part of the plot is they are very different. The Bare bones plot is you have died, now Heaven, Hell ( which isnt as cut and dry as it sounds) or instead of moving on concentrate on your family and how you died.

You could just make it so that, instead of choosing which girl you want to talk to, make it so the reader has to talk to both. Like... You bump into the first girl in the morning and get to know a little about her, then you bump into the second girl in the afternoon and you get to know a little about her. If you keep the game going on like that till the end, the player will know a fair bit about both girls before choosing which one he likes best.

Also never force the MC(Main Character) to choose between the girls until a later part of the story. If say, you have Girls A, B, and C, then a possible choice while expressing interest in A and B could get C reduced to a minor character(good friend, side-enemy, ect...).

If your going for a super long story you can always pull in new girls and toss out old ones if you give a reasonable explanation. IE: a car crash kills B, a few pages on D and E join the story.
