Good day everyone,

While I am completely aware that Warrior Cats-related stories are unwelcome, and possibly even banned at this point, I am also aware that it was stated that stories of such nature may, in the future, be accepted were the writing to be justifiably exceptional. Many months ago, before Warrior Cats adventure tales were rightfully banned, I began extensive work on one, not knowing at the time just how many Warrior Cats tales there were on this site, nor how poorly written (and, as a result, unwelcome) they were. When composing a story, I take it seriously, and while I'm no Tolkien... I do my utmost, with the skills and knowledge I possess at the time, to bring to life an engaging story with memorable characters.

Taking all of this into account, I was wondering if one of the moderators (or anyone on this site), might take a look at this story I composed and determine whether or not writing of this caliber for Warrior Cats specifically would be allowed on the site. I only wrote out the (rather long...) introduction and an extremely small portion of the beginning of the story (which, in itself, needs a bit of a touch-up, now that I've gone back and reviewed it), but would anyone care to give it a read? I'd sincerely appreciate it, as I'd like to know whether this particular type of Warrior Cats story would get a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

Let me know if that link doesn't work, and whether or not I'm posting all of this in the right section of the forum boards. Again, thank you very much for your time!

There's a full ban on all WC stories and games for an indefinite period of time.

You may want to try a WC fan forum or other site dedicated to fan fiction works if you already have the story written.

Hello there,

Mm. I see. It's a shame that the ban had to be put in place due to overflow of indecent Warriors stories. Should I ever finish the entire story, I may consider locating a WC-based forum, as you suggested. I also like your proposal of moving it to a site dedicated strictly to fan fiction. It would be interesting to take out the gaming aspect of the story and just have it be for reading only and not for user-participation.

Thanks for your suggestions! :)

Linky

I don't have time to read it right now, but judging from your post you sound sincere and competent enough to potentially write a decent storygame. I wouldn't be too optimistic because this is meant to be a strict no-Warriors website, but I'll tag some people that might possibly be able to make an exception if it's good enough.

Hello,

Thank you very much for replying to this! No worries in regards to not having the time to read what's written, as it is quite long and I know that you folks are busy. I appreciate your kind response. Sounds like lifting the ban for even one story would not be allowed at the moment, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Thanks, again!

(Thank you, as well, for fixing the link, Kiel!)

The ban was put in place by an administrative member who is not frequently active here, 3J. Neither I, nor Berka can go over his head, because admins are above mods and I find it unlikely that Seth--an admin, like 3J--will lift it, either. A site founder theoretically could, but you'd have far less luck talking to Alexp than you would to 3J and making your case with him.

I'd like to say I'm sympathetic to your efforts, but to be perfectly frank, past experiences say I shouldn't be. Not because of you, but because of what we'll have to deal with if the ban is lifted. Granted, now that I'm a mod myself and can remove the crappier stories at will, I'd mind less ... but more than the stories, it was the behavior of the fandom that made the ban a necessity.

Edit: *skimming through the story* Well, I'll be damned. You've been putting some actual effort into this thing, huh? I'm honestly sorry we didn't see more of this back in the day, since I know I said many times was that 'all I wanted was to see a good one,' perhaps to convince myself that my efforts to help those writers improve had a goal that could be reached. There was a time when 3J considered lifting the ban in the future. I cannot promise you that he will, but I'd encourage you to pursue writing other stories in the meantime.

Hello Kiel,

Understandable. As a former moderator of a website myself, I respect the role of the administrators and know that their reasoning for putting in place certain rules is usually solid. In this case, I understand why the ban was put into effect. As you said, if one is let past it then others may put up a fuss. One person here suggested that I take the story to a site strictly for WC adventure games and/or a site for fan fiction, which are good proposals. I may do that in the future.

In any case, thank you for taking a quick look through the story. I'm glad that you like what I've written! Granted, it could use some work, but yeah -- I spent months on the research alone. I'm sorry, as well, that more decent Warrior Cats stories were not submitted to this site. It seems like many WC fans could care less about concocting a good plot, which is a shame, for were effort actually put into such works there could be some great WC stories out there.

I will most definitely take your advice and continue to write other stories in the meantime. Thanks, again, for replying! :)

Hello~ heh, seems formal for the forums, really--not that I'm complaining.

I would definitely recommend it, too. As a fellow writer, regardless of the subject, I know what a shame it is to just toss out your work. You're quite welcome, by the way, and I agree that it could definitely use some polishing / completion, but that's true of all WIPs.

Good, in that case, I look forward to seeing your other works. ^^

Ha-ha. Perhaps I'm being a bit too formal.

Indeed, especially after having worked on it for some time.

Ha-ha. Yes. Writing is rewriting! And even when it's done I don't know if any author is ever 100% satisfied with their work.

Many thanks! :)

Even if we were 100% sure this would be a great story, I'd still say no, because all this would do is attract more of the fan base.

And in our experience, the fan base is just awful.

Hunting for Opinions

Hello there,

Yeah, that's what it seems like, which is understandable. It's a shame that a vast majority of the fan base seems to put little to no effort into crafting a decent Warrior Cats story(game).

I'm not anyone of import on this site. But I did take a look at what you wrote, and it is nice. It has a lot of good features, good information, and good writing. I would like to encourage you to write more, whether it is on this story, in hopes of the ban being lifted, or an exception being made for you; or on another story. I would also suggest that you might modify this story, making it slightly different, that might include people instead of cats, following the same general storyline, and that might work as well.

Hello,

Thank you very much for taking a look at my story! I will certainly continue to write more, possibly for this story and certainly for separate, more original works. Interesting proposal: changing the characters from cats to humans. The only issue with this is that, while the story could remain the same, many other aspects would have to be changed. It's a good idea, though.

Whether or not you're a moderator, you are still important and have good advice to give. Thanks! :)

Shit, this guy is really turning my opinion of shitty WC fans around. It's like that one Stormtrooper, Po, who's not a mega-dick, or the vegetarian sharks in Finding Nemo. He's so polite and well-mannered. Unnervingly so, even. Anyway, I looked at the story, it was very good, although it was still about cat-people, so... you know. Weird. Anyway, I hope despite the ban you do stay on the site and write some non-WC storygames.

Ha-ha. While I've never actually fraternized with any member of the WC fandom (save for a couple times here on this website, and maybe once or twice on Tumblr), I have read almost all of the books and liked them well enough. But yeah. Thanks for your kind words! I probably will stick around to write some non-Warrior Cats stories.

I'm on my break so I could only take a quick glance, but what you have here is really impressive! IF the mods ever made an exception, it'd be for a story like this. I'm not sure what the chances are of that happening though, since besides the issue already mentioned with 3J being the one to set the ban, I think the concern is that even one WC story would sort of open the floodgates. IIRC it was originally a story that wasn't too bad in it's own right that made this site show up in searches for WC games and unleashed the initial plague upon us.

Maybe if it wasn't explicitly a Warrior Cats story, but had a few changes made to be more....WC with the serial numbers filed off, that would be enough of a grey area, considering the high quality of it?

Whatever the case turns out to be, I hope you continue to write here.

Thank you so very much! I appreciate you taking a look at it. :)

Unfortunately, that's what the case seems to be. From the sound of it, the ban is staying and will not make exceptions, which is understandable. What will probably happen is that I'll keep this story on the back burner in case the rules are loosened a bit in the future, but stick around to write non-Warrior Cats story-games.

Hmm. Yeah, perhaps. You mean sort of along the lines of having it be a story about cats, but not specifically Warrior Cats? That could actually be done, although I'm concerned that it would still be so close to WC that the fans would find it. If there were no tags on the game, that might help, but it's still a risk.

Ah well. It's all good. I will most likely continue to write here, regardless.

So there might be hope for the WC yet if someone like you popped up on this site of ours. As many have already said, WC has been wholesale banned for making many bad storygames and spamming the forums with their posts, which had horrendous grammar at worst and below average bad at best. However, I have read a bit of your story and honestly, I have to say I'm very impressed about the writing, grammar and everything you've written so far in that story.

In my honest opinion I think that if the admins and/or mods do not remove the ban, they should at least make an exception for your story, because it would be a shame not to see this evolve into a story, keep working on it.

Hello there,

Thank you so very much for the sweet compliments! It's a shame that many Warrior Cats fans made such a bad name of themselves here on this site. Regarding the ban being lifted in exception for my story: While that would certainly be nice, it seems unlikely at this point. I guess if other WC fans noticed that the ban was lifted for one story there might be complaints, and I don't want the moderators to have to deal with any more trouble. Sounds as if there may be hope in the future for the ban to be lifted eventually, though. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Again, thank you so much! Not sure if I'll continue to work on it, but I certainly won't trash it. :)

If all else fails,or if you'd like to "publish" it when you get done whether it's unbanned or not, Twine is always an option, too.

Interesting. Never heard of Twine until now, but I'll keep it in consideration. Thanks!

God, I genuinely think you're one of the most polite, kindest people I have ever seen on this site. It's kind of unnerving. It makes me think you have deep, dark terrible secrets.

Ha-ha! Aww. Well, thanks. XD

I try to be kind wherever I go. Granted, I think I'm being a bit too formal on this site, hence it coming across as rather unnerving, apparently. I've certainly made my fair share of mistakes, but I do my best to be loving regardless. :)
