A place to sit back, hang out, and make monkey noises about anything you'd like.

This is my first post. I have migrated here upon discovering infinite-story.com/ has been taken down(or at least that is what i think). Does anyone know anything about that? Now it's just an acronym generator. The acronym generator has another website run by the same guy who ran infinite-story. It used to be this at 8:00 this morning. Please tell me if this is altogether the wrong community to ask this.

Not sure what's going on with the site. The invalid security certificate thing was there the other day but that usually just means they forgot to renew something in time, and you could still get to IS by overriding it. Now it looks like it's just being redirected to somewhere else altogether, I don't think that other site is even Sev's.

@Chanbot come explain technology

Anyway I guess you might as well hang out here, IS hasn't had much of an active community in years anyway.

Gonna suck if everything was actually lost, though. I mean I'm sure Sev can get it working again but he's rarely around and can't ever seem to see his updates all the way through so it may be awhile.

I'd still give a couple months before declaring the site completely dead.

This isn't even the first time this has happened. A few years back Sev didn't renew the license/pay the utility bill on time and the site was redirecting to somewhere else and not even showing up. Figured it was dead that time too, but ended up coming back with everything intact.

Though with each resurrection it comes back a little more..."wrong."

Yeah no idea why it's redirecting but the security certificate error seems fairly common, I've seen that on other sites. It's just a matter of whether he's paying attention and feels like dealing with it.

Has it been since Feb 14? There's an update in ICANN on that date. It could be their domain registration expired and someone else hijacked it (that's what the acronym maker looks like). Generally when that's done, the original site and information completely exists, and you can get to it if you know the IP address (but you have to know that before the domain hijack takes place). Often when this is done the original owner can get the hostname back, but usually end up paying high fees. More often when this is done, it is because the original site owner has gone away and the site just ends up gone forever -- like I suspect will happen to this site one day.

IS has been this way since sometime in the afternoon today. From sometime around 9:00 am(central time in usa) to sometime in the afternoon the site did something similar to refreshing the page every 1/4 a second so I couldn't get on. After that IS became an acronym generator. :(

Web archive's capture says a "recently active member" last logged in in 2016, however there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of stories on there. In fact, just last night I was pretty deep into one with over 1000 rooms and no loose ends. It would be a shame to see the site go.

I think the last updated/new story on there was September of 2017. I've seen a lot of lurkers though after that. I know I've logged on there just a few weeks before this site weirdness occurred.

Over a 1000 rooms eh? I'm guessing that might have either been Another Monday Morning or Hall of Infinite Doors.

EDIT: Oh wait, you said no loose ends. Was it Legend?
