You guys are probably really busy, but here's an idea later on, it's a little space on a user's profile where other users can comment on, say for complementing, criticizing, or just chatting! It may seem unneedable, but  lots of other successful sites have this feature. You guys are awesome, you're running this site really great!

Chatting could be done in forums or by messages..

You said a neutral thing before saying a good thing -.-

A foolish mistake.

When you ask for something, say the good thing first, and then say the neutral, and both will look good

I'd use it!  If I read a really good story I usually check out the author and it would be fun to get to leave them feedback.  Kind of like Deviantart. You can leave a comment on a particular work of art, or you can comment their whole page.  I'm still new here so my opinion doesn't count, but I like it! (I'd comment on your excellent choice of Sribblenauts as a favorite game)

On this site, new people aren't discriminated against. :P
