Dust off a seat and discuss a good book here...you do read, right?

Fifty Shades of Grey

So, let's talk about 50 shades of Grey! The fastest selling paper back of all time, a record previously set by Harry Potter! So... I honestly didn't get what the big deal was. Everyone was saying how completely vulgar and disgusting it was, so why the hell were so many women reading it? ... And then I found this!

And suddenly it all makes sense! This book is so much more than just a dirty, poorly written porn movie in a book, this is a comedy master piece! Think of the possibilities! So many hours of fun you could have just reading this book in funny voices! I must have the audio book! ... As read by Gilbert Gottfried of course cheeky

I just read a bit of a preview of the book, and your right that would be hilarious. The Wikipedia article on this book actually explains though why so many women read it and, from what I have read of the article, the whole book is about a women who finds a man who likes bondage and domination in is his sex life.

I find it rather disturbing a book like this is a best seller. Apparently it's a modified fan fiction based off of - you guessed it - Twilight.

Yeah, also heard that. I also saw a video or two on YT depicting how the bondage and more rough stuff is twisted and changed to fit the criteria. And how it's complete misrepresentation of it, clearly written by the woman who only read about it somewhere...

But then again, I guess that is how this stuff gains popularity - by getting the attention of the people to the more niche stuff. Just like it went with Tolkien fantasy books... now everybody is a fan.

Yeah I heard how popular it was getting and to be completely frank... That shit should stay private not become a best seller book!!!

Isn't it best selling book because the contents border porn? I mean, that's what I gather from few fragments that were on the Internet. And it advertises itself as book 'free from prudery'? Well then again maybe it's so popular because there aren't any alternatives?

We ramble on, but the main target group are girls/women. I don't pretend I understand them.

As a girl, I felt that I need to defend myself here.

Yes, I've read all books. For me, the writing style is poor [comparing it to Nicholas Sparks or even Mitch Albom, but then again it is a porn/romance book]. Every five pages, at the very least, contains any tiny bit about sex. If you are inexperienced, you better not read it so that you won't be "corrupted".

I just liked to know what will happen next [maybe I was just a little bored then] but after that, I can't even recommend or talk about this book. I felt that it should be private, like it's an intimate secret your bestfriend of thousand of years has entrusted you.

True there are usually two groups when it comes to books, movies like this book either you love it and think its the next Harry potter or hate it and think horse crap should be higher on the list

Fifty Shades of Grey

there are people who think that this is next Harry Potter? lol kidding.

If 50 Shades will be rated as a storygame here...i'll rate it 3...choose your own boredom. or even a 2....good...for you to poop on.

Really sorry to hear that...and I wish you went to a less scary school.  Though, in my jaded opinion, a lot of schools are not good places to be these days.
