I didn't really know where to put this, so I am putting it here. Does your rank (Reader, Contributor, Wordsmith, ect.) effect your rating power, when rating someone's story game? An example would be if someone with the rank of Reader rated on a story game, would it not be as effective as if someone with the Rank of Novelist? I'm just curious.

So I've been told.

So someone with 4,000 points could potentially raise, or lower a story game's rating significantly? By that I mean by a point, not multiple.

Although, if I bide my time and continue gathering up those daily points, I will become unstoppable! MUAHAHA! You will all burn. Your games will be reduced to ashes and 1/8's! All I need is time and you will all suffer!

Oh come on, that doesn't sound very fair to the author.

Unless your 8/8 rating pushes them over the thresh-hold of minimum site standards and then these crapulations get to stay on the site and blight it forever :D Not gonna lie though, when I'm tired instead of forming my own opinions I might just give a story the same rating everyone else did :)

I give lots of games a one even if they might technically deserve a two, because 1.) they are still really bad and I'd just as soon see them removed rather that hanging around forever as clutter, 2.) people in general rate far too generously, a 4 or a 5 means a genuinely good story with a few flaws but there are so many who refuse to give anything lower than that no matter what out of some misguided fear of hurting feelings or whatever, and 3.) I automatically drop a star no matter what if I see the author praising and rating their own game and recruiting their family and friends to do the same. Also, 4.) I don't really care about what's fair to the author, their posting of bad, unedited, low effort stories isn't fair to the site.

Ford, you giving a story an 8, with the amount of points you have might actually be enough to bump it up high enough to not be removed, especially if it's already got a few other fake 8s, ack, don't do that!

It won't. Ratings more than one standard deviant away from the usual rating are considered outliers and I assume would count about as much as a guest's, even when you have that many points. It's what keeps those self-raters from having literally any effect on the outcome.

What is to generous for you? Like if a game has a 5, but you think it should be a 4, will you rate it bad to move it down a level? And you should care depending on the author, if it shows that he/her actually gave an effort to make it, and is willing to improve you shouldn't go out of your way to make it a lower rated game, but if they are not, go ape shit crazy on them.
