Alan Wake:
Got it because I thought my wife would like it.
She said she wished it had just been a movie. All the fun interesting parts like solving mysteries, you just sat there and watched the main character handle, while you were left with running from one circle of light to another, trying to shoot things. (which she was not particularly good at.)
Deadly Premonition:
Was supposed to play with wife. I don't think she remembers we own it.
Loved this game. Loved, loved, loved it.
Later it got too easy to kill stuff, but at first I was genuinely tense about avoiding the monsters.
There was an actual sense of exploration, not just "walk from cutscene to cutscene while killing things."
Oh and speaking of cutscenes, I really enjoyed the mechanic explaining why you don't always control the character.
Yeah, okay, it's definitely influenced by TwinPeaks, but that's not a bad thing.
Great soundtrack, too.
