Too many ideas in one story?

So I've started wondering if the story I'm making is beginning to have too many ideas. When I mean too many, I mean too many ideas take away from the story. Kind of like how too much water takes away the flavor of lemonade. I'm going to try to list all of them here. (At least their basic components)

-An alternate reality of earth.

-Your subconscious will have a will of its own.

-A "school" that trains kids on how to take over their subconscious.

-Once you have taken over the subconscious, you achieve "full control" over you're body

-A rebellion by the subconsciouses

-Two main characters, both of which are in the afore mentioned school.

-One main character leads the rebellion

-The other is close to leading the school in pure talent

-So each one is against each other in a sense.

-And I am trying to have a romance between one main character and their subconscious

-While the other is in love with the government's princess.

I'm sure I have more ideas, but it seems they are escaping me at the moment. So tell me if you think there are to many ideas, and if so what should I cut, keep, etc. Explain why also. Thanks

Combine all of them, maybe you'll finish it.

So it doesn't seem too cluttered?

Introduce things as they become important, and you'll probably be fine.

Some will become important at the very beginning. It's that I'm worried about. Just tossing information at the reader and not actually writing the story

Write the story. Introduce things when they really become important. Have someone explain it better to the protagonist after they first encounter it. Get everyone immersed first, you only get one beginning.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend hitting the reader with a wall of backstory or setting info right out of the gate. Or at all, really. If you have to you can shove it off into a side link or into a book item or something, but that's still kind of lazy solution. Integrating the details of your setting into your story in a readable way is one of those things you need to be comfortable with if you write fantasy or sci-fi.

Just like Sent said, maybe combine them all?

Clarification: Combining them is what I'm doing, but are there too many ideas that will make it seem cluttered WHEN I combine them

Maybe either do a fictional or historical war. You play as two main characters -- one side with A and one side with B.

I want the main characters to know each other. And be friends of sorts so when they find out they are actually enemies there will be an "uproar."

It seems fine as long as you can make it work. If you think you can't take something out without diminishing the overall story, don't take anything out. Then again, if you think you have so much that it's preventing you from making any progress, either get rid of it or find a work around.

The story I'm currently working on has an asston of features. My solution to prevent writer's block was to create different playstyles to accommodate each idea.

So it depends on how i write it and if I think I can write it. Thanks

Pretty much. I knew I couldn't implement everything u wanted into the story with the way I was doing it before.  So now I can get most of my ideas in while also increasing the replayability.

Weren't you writing your school story about students having to kill each other?

No. In the thread you saw I said I wrote that in the spur of the moment. I also said that if I did write that story then it would be after I finished what I was currently working on. Or at least something along those lines. So what I'm currently working on is what is described in the thread above.

I'd suggest doing a single linear story with all the components mentioned above, and then from there you can branch off and turn it into a cys. That way it's less likely you'll be biting off more than you can chew.

That makes sense. I'll try that first then.
