What's the point of them?

Is there a point hierarchy?

When I look at people I see all these different titles does that have something to do with them?

Does it make me a better person if I have more?

Basically if you have more points it means you contribute to the site.

So, for example, we know a 5000 point user has contributed a lot, while a 10 point member likely hasn't contributed much at all.

They're a nice thing to have.

How many points do you get for posting good stories?

Do you get points according to positive/negative reviews?

I know you get points from creating one.

Ultimately, points are worthless and you shouldn't strive for them in any way. They're more of a byproduct of success than a goal.

I'm a bit surprised that you've been here for as long as you have and this was something that you were still apparently confused about.
