I thought this would be a nice addition to the site.

I've seen a lot of new members who've asked us older folks to suggest good stories to them, and of course we name off the old greats, Eternal, Order of the Midnight Sun, Necromancer, and so on. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, we should be proud to have such brilliant works on the site. But they already have big golden stars and appear at the top of the page every time you ask the site to show you a list of stories. There's really no competition. Not to mention many featured games have held their titles for years. The great stories are older ones, and we're reminded of that when we look at the featured games. It's easy to look at the new games and see one steaming pile of cat shit after another steaming pile of poor spelling and general retardedness.

Which is why I propose this: Something that recognizes new stories, is competition-ey, and encourages new writers of every genre. Great new stories getting credit would definitely loosen the grip that Warrior Cats, bland shit, and otherwise terrible commonplace work would have on the stories lists by lighting up great recent stories here and there. I propose, whenever someone views a specific genre, (As the lists showing the genres separately would be dead and gone by the time Alexp brings the big update) there would be a message to the side on the top and bottom saying "Best [Genre name] story written this month: [title]".

How does that sound?

We really don't get good new stories that often though, and the ones that are good enough usually end up getting featured (eventually) anyway.

Not to mention even by your way, what if the "best" story of that month happens to end up being a warrior cat game that is terrible, simply because it's one of the only storygames published that month in that category?

So only feature one when there IS a best story to be picked that month, but yes, we really don't get good new stories that often, so this feature isn't really necessary.

It would need a 5-6 rating at minimum, if no 5+ stories are written, the previous one keeps its title, ad it may or may not be changed from "This month" to "recently".

I don't like this idea as is. If we were going to do something like this, then why not: "Most recent 6-rated storygame per genre" and make a minimum of 1 week published for a story to qualify.

I'd say, why not just forget the whole genre thing and just have a best story of the month? Would be like an employee of the month award. ^_^
