Item Types

Alright, it works kind of like the following:  When you get an item in the description it says what type of item it is.  Depending on the type it does different things.  Here is a list of types I can think of:

Food:  Can have up to 10 uses.  When used refreshes the page.  Adds n to any varible or varibles.  Ability to put in more than one place.  (Food shop in Jamaca and In Your Fridge for example but at the same time)

Key:  With a key you can get access to a page that you didn't before.

Helmet:  Can only have 1 at a time.  Rest go into a different part of the inventory where you can equip them there.  Increase a varible when equipped.
Shield:  Same as Helmet
Body: Same as Helmet
Feet: Same as Helmet
Legs: Same as Helmet
Shirt:  Same as Helmet
Gloves:  Same as Helmet
Main Weapon:  Same as Helmet

Secondary Weapons:  Can have as much as the person wants equipped.  Have a set use amount.  (Under 11)  Can only be used in battle or pages described by the maker.

Book:  Remembers the page you are on and goes to a chapter that can only be opened by using that page.  When you click on the item again you go back to page where you just used it.

This sounds a lot like Item Classes ... is this much different?

I quess not. Key, food, and book though. Those aren't really recongized in Item Classes.  And it states something about haveing an item makes a difference to a varible or using an item makes a difference to a varible.

OK I think I understand -- basically, you're suggesting to have the System build in the TYPES. This is not a road we want to go on, because then you know, people will not think outside of the box.

I would suggest keeping these in mind and writing an article about how to use Items to do this. The KEY thing is easy to do now.

Well you can use a Default action and have it every time they click on the default page there hunger variable goes up.

Varible Change On Item Use

Yah, but that would be quicker. Mabey just this change: On an item use a varible could go up. Edit that into an item use ability. Make a second screen for it. Kind of like the varible change page.

Varible Change On Item Use

Did I reject that? What I eventually want to do is expand Item Effects to be more like Links, meaning they would get Changes & Restrictions ... but that's when we revisti the ADV Editor yet again ...
