Pretty simple, when we unpublish a game I want the author to get a notification, and I want the option to write a short comment on why.

I have been in the habit of explaining these things in the actual game comment, but frequently the kind of tunnel visioned moron that craps out a 2/8 game without looking at anything else on the site doesn't read these, or at least doesn't read them before slamming down on the republish button.

I don't think the kind of tunnel visioned moron that craps out a 2/8 game will read anything. As you say, they don't look at anything else on the site.
