Tried my hand at making an experimental / ambient / drone EP. Would love feedback, or just tell me if it's shit (or not). https://dissonent.bandcamp.com/releases

Also, what have you been listening to, lately? Album of the year? Song of the year?

As far as albums go, there hasn't been anything that has stuck out to me (or maybe I just haven't checked with my favorite bands/artists) besides The Life Of Pablo by Kanye West.

What genres are you into? What bands/artists? I can probably rec you something.

Well, I can start off by saying I don't listen to a lot of shit that's out nowadays. I prefer hard rock and hip-hop, mainly.

For hip-hop, have you listened to (all) these, yet?

Aesop Rock - The Impossible Kid

Death Grips - Bottomless Pitt

Kendrick Lamar - untitled umastered

Dalek - Asphalt for Eden

Skepta - Konnichiwa

For rock, I highly recommend Xiu Xiu - Plays The Music of Twin Peaks. It's not strictly rock music, but it does have a few noise rock tracks scattered throughout. The rest is really sinister ambient music; really great tribute album.

For the more straightforward stuff:

The Drones - Feelin' Kind of Free

Meta Meta - MM3

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Nonagon Infinity

Parquet Courts - Human Performance

Also, there's new David Bowie, Radiohead, and Car Seat Headrest albums. If you've slept on any of those, listen to them ASAP. They're easily the most distinguinshed rock releases of the year (even though AMSP wasn't exactly my cup of tea). It hasn't been a very good year for rock in general, though, besides the above. Last year was way better.

Edit: Also, new Ty Segall (this is probably the closest to hard rock; really fun album) and Deerhoof

Surprisingly, I haven't listened to any of these besides K Dot's.

Oh, and there's the new Avalanches album, while not strictly being a rap album, it does have plenty of that throughout.

Damn. I'm going to have to do a lot of listening over the summer.

Well, I've never heard one before, so I have nothing to compare it with.

I take this the fuck back. My boy Logic just dropped a surprise mixtape titled Bobby Tarantino. It's fucking amazing.

Oh shit Logic did? Someone should've told me.

I been a fan since welcome to forever. A friend showed me 5 am and since then he's been one of my favorite rappers.

I've been a fan since Young, Broke, and Infamous. Been bumping his shit ever since.

It's not really something I take much joy or inspiration from listening to, but I guess it isn't shit. Not particularly stimulating, but that's not what ambience is for. It has a way of causing minutes to disappear.

I also made a thing. A friend asked me why I hated upbeat blues/jazz music as played by a chip tune machine, so I demonstrated it for him. Something about this song just really, really grinds my gears, and I'm filled with self-loathing for having made this... does this piss off anyone else?

Fixed noises are the second worst thing you can do to jazz.

This is the first.

Bumping this because I can, and I did a full LP. https://dissonent.bandcamp.com/album/concealed-reality

As always, any and all feedback is hugely appreciated. And since this also doubles as a general, post what you've been listening to recently.

Clipping's new EP is great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvO1r1EAhqw

Pretty decent. Study music, perhaps.

Which one? The EP or the album? Assuming the former.

Edit: The album is a lot more textured and has stuff going on.
