I need some ideas for a short read I could do. I was planning on making it horror, but I could try to make it some other category.

This would probably be better in the Parlor Room.  

"Ciara's Game" is a good horror that one a recent contest.  Another one worth checking out is "Love SICK," which I, personally, consider the greatest modern love story I have had the pleasure of reading.  "4 Little Mice" is another fun one that is pretty short.  

Did you mean "a short story I could write"? Because you posted in the WW and the sentence seems to be leaning towards that meaning but you did write "read", and Cricket replied accordingly.
