Hello CYStians!

It's times like these where I just have to say how thankful I am for all the members of the CYS Monthly Gazette, but I also want to thank those who make sure that CYS as a site stays up and running. This newsletter would have no home without chooseyourstory.com. You are all truly awesome, and thank you for what you do!

A special thank you to all the members of the CYS Monthly Gazette and especially fresh_out_the_oven, Suranna, RKrallonor, Anthraxus, Will11 and our Mr. Nobody.

As always, we are grateful for all those who agreed to interviews and we hope you have an awesome day! We enjoy doing this and are looking for anyone who has an interest in being interviewed. We hope all you readers enjoy this issue!

These things are like when you add NPCs who actually work a forge to a game, or villagers who get pissed off when you try to shortchange them in the market for whatever potion ingredients you're after. The things that basically bring a world to life. That's what the Gazette does. It breathes life into CYStia.

I've not seen something like this on any other forum. +10 for immersion. Don't ever stop.

Will's article was a riot! I burst out laughing when Khaled started referring to you as "my Willy", at that point I would probably just go by William to avoid any unintentional faux pas. The part where Will almost stepped on an unexploded mine was crazy. Will, did you visit Egypt during a war?

Regardless, I've been really enjoying the series so far, and another episode of Will's travels releases in the September issue, so stay tuned!

I loved this issue, this was a really fun one to work on, and there's lots of good stuff in here per usual.

I'd also encourage everyone to scan the barcode and check out the full unabridged interview I did with Shadowdrake! Should be interesting! Thanks for doing the interview shadowdrake.

No worries, glad you enjoyed it :D It was certainly an interesting experience and no, we were visiting an old battlefield from the Six-Day War in 1967 (this was in 2006).

Actually, Egypt has a fascinating history, both ancient and modern. One story I left out was that in a shisha café me and my friends ended up talking to an old man with half his face burnt. He said as a boy he had helped run water out to Montgomery’s British soldiers before El Alamein in World War 2 and later he’d had his face badly burnt when he’d been fighting against the Israelis in Yom Kippur and they’d bombed his position (he claimed they’d used napalm and, like a lot of Arabs, was a wee bit anti-Semitic, which was ironic for someone who’d opposed the Nazis). He was a very cheerful soul though and when we told him his injury must have been very painful, he laughed and said “Shit happens” (his English was very good).

This kind of cheerful attitude and ignoring or minimizing of life’s little problems made a big impact on me and my friends, I think. 😊
