Hello!
I hope I’m right in this forum :) I am an English teacher and I am looking for a simple and short choose your own adventure story for a class next week Tuesday! Our unit topic is natural disasters and survivor stories and the kids are 11-14 years old (so please no age inappropriate stories).
I am looking here because I hope this will be a good free resource :)
The class is 45 minutes long so it should be a very short story they can play through twice.
Thank you to anyone who can help me out here!

I can offer a little bit of help with proof reading as compensation!

I don't know if this site has any stories on that, but if there is it'd be in the edutuainment section. If you don't know, the way to get to the edutainment section is if you click on storygames on the left, than click on edutainment.

Since it's short, I would offer to quickly write something up but I have other stories going but maybe someone else would be willing or you could try.

And yeah you can ask questions in this thread that's what I made it for.

Moving this to its own thread so it's not just randomly sitting in the middle of another one.

This is a little bit of a short notice but it's possible someone could whip something up.

(Since you didn't specify I am assuming these kids have what's generally understood as a reading level that fits their age, and are not going to be the depressing kind that graduate highschool painfully sounding out simple words like a second grader.)

Hi Lyra,
Welcome to the site! We have quite a few survivor stories.

I'll recommend you check out the following stories.

1. The Siberian by Yummy Food:

https://chooseyourstory.com/story/the-siberian-

It's a story about an ancient tribe in Siberia, and one hunter's quest to survive.

2. The Lost Expedition Part 1 by Will11

Anything by Will is a good bet. You play as an adventurer sent to an island to figure out what happened to a party of 50 men, lost in the jungles of the Island of Marco.

3. The Lost Expedition Part 2 also by Will11.

Same thing, but the 2nd part.

4. Climbing beyond the Clouds - It's about the exploits of the people who first climbed Mount Everest. It's by Will 11(again!)

5. Terror of the Sea by Will11

It's a story of survival that focuses on the tragic crash of the USS Indianapolis submarine. It's the most recent story on the site, and it's a well done story that stays historically accurate. I think your students are at the age in which they can appreciate the more grisly aspects of history, and understand that history isn't always pretty and wrapped up in a bow. At the same time, I do recommend you read through these entries, as our stories do not shy away from showing the dark side of war.

From what I can remember, I would feel comfortable reading most of these in a classroom setting, although I would recommend you read through each of the 5 recommendations, in case there's anything you'd rather not show in front of a classroom of middle schoolers.

As long as we're talking about Will's games, he's got one about the Titanic and another about the Donner Party that have previously been used by classrooms, although I'm not sure how closely they'd fit if the idea is natural disasters.
