I’ve decided to try my hand at a new genre, Fantasy! 😊 To save me continually publishing new stories and cluttering up the site I’m going to be writing and uploading new stories for this series within the existing framework of this one story-game (each can be read as a stand-alone adventure or as part of a continuous campaign). I’ll post here whenever a new one is finished and added.

Currently The First Tale of Erenel – The Barrow of Blood is the only one available but I hope to finish the next in the series, The Second Tale of Erenel – The Ship of Death, in the next month or two. Enjoy!

Lol, "yeah guys decided to just stop cluttering up the site with more commended and featured games than anyone else is writing, maybe somebody can catch up now, heh"

This is a pretty neat idea though, I've thought before that something like this would be cool, like a bunch of adventure modules plugged in to one setting. Just never expected anybody to pull it off.

You might consider moving this to the Parlor Room, you'd basically have that whole board to yourself.

Haha, it's more like "I literally can't stop writing and rather than seek medical help I'll take the cheaper option of creating one story game that is a several-in-one so I can keep churning out stories without disturbing others" :D I'm considering folding some of my other series into one story game too but it'd be a shame to lose the comments.

It was super fiddly to work out how to do it right without just leaving a story unfinished but I think stand-alone adventures might work - I can write the next one in my own time and then just post a link to it from the main page (or sub-page) when I'm finished.

And done :D

Dude, this is awesome!

I'm really excited to see your foray into Fantasy. The title sounds incredibly promising. How'd you get the idea? Thanks again!

My introduction to cys was via Fighting Fantasy gamebooks so actually fantasy was the way I got introduced to all these, I'm just kind of returning to roots by finally trying to write something in the genre. The idea's been bouncing around since Covid but I couldn't figure out a way to make it work for ages. And thanks RK for the positivity - if you ever say a story is terrible and that you hate we will know it is literally the worst thing ever :D

Hey, I was doing this! >< But anyway, it's a cool idea. I've been more recently working on a different story game but I have one on sneak preview (never bothered to take it off, it's Tales of Nine Ducks) where I had a similar idea.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying here and what I'm doing is different, but basically I'm just planning to make a ton of really short stories and put them in one story game.

Haha, I didn't know you had the same idea but if you're planning to write a lot it's a good idea :) A sort of several-in-one story.

Hard to get a clear idea of what's going on with the duck story from the description, but what Will's doing looks more like a collection of DnD adventure modules with inspiration from the Fighting Fantasy books.

Love the idea and congrats on making real progress with it. My series concept never got past one unfinished project I keep wanting to pick up, a short story that's not even marked as part of the series and way too many concept docs.

It will be interesting to see it grow and who knows maybe we'll eventually get another 8 length game at some point to scare people with.

Hi all :)

The Second Tale of Erenel - The Ship of Death is finished (20,000 words in 10 days!) and has just been added to The Tales of Erenel story-game. Please have a read if you like and let me know what you think, also please do let me know if you spot any mess-ups with the items or links. I'm going to take a rest from writing for a bit now and focus on reading so the third tale will come up sometime early next year.

Enjoy!

Wow, seriously? That was fast! Looking forward to this one.

Fingers crossed all the links work.

Btw, I'm up to 58 Items and still ok. If I can go past 100 I guess I shouldn't have a problem with limits :)

The Third Tale of Erenel - The Witch in the Castle has been published, hopefully without too many errors :D I'll take a break from these for a bit to work on something else but I'll probably publish the fourth one (The Midsummer Tourney) in April or May. A big thank you to those who have been kind enough to read them and provide invaluable feedback, especially Urnam0. These things are really fun to write and I hope people are enjoying reading them as well :)

Nice! Going to be a few days before I can do any extensive reading but glad you're still trucking along at these.

Er, you might want to reconsider that title on the fourth one though, it has somewhat cursed associations with a certain former mod.

No, that was the game of death and dying. Different thing. Also I thought the mod part was a joke?

The Tales of Erenel

Different game, different person.

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago

Oh, never mind. That seemed the most obvious. Was it something with Ford? Only banned mod I can think of. Maybe I have to go back to looking at older threads again...

The Tales of Erenel

There was also Fresh, but I can't think of any connection between it and "Games of Life and Death."

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago
Fresh was also never a mod lol.

Lmao even.

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago

I thought being a daughter made you a mod?...

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. After all, I think fresh was a daughter.

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago
Only Thara and only sometimes. Over 50% of the daughters have been disasters lol, we wouldn't give any fucktard teenager control over your accounts in any situation dw.

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago

Really? Huh.

Then again, I never know who is and isn't a mod, lol.

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago

You could try checking the help $ info (about us) page. I didn't know it was there before Fresh was banned.

Ford was never a mod, he was a coder for a short while.

But this is 2016 drama, you were probably in diapers.

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago

I thought he was....?

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago
None of the coders have ever been mods, they all had too much autism.

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago
Since it might be part of the confusion, there are some people who can commend posts who aren't actually mods.

The Tales of Erenel

one hour ago

Oh, yeah. If it's that old, then I don't think many people might know of it

The Tales of Erenel

Ah crap. Ok, I'll come up with something else :)

Edit: Voila. Something much more innocuous.
