Questions about a storygame? Thoughts on Eternal? Any other IF you're playing out there?

Storygames that are easy to read

Hello, was wondering if any of you have recommendations on stories here that are easy to read? Not necessarily short, but ones that don't use difficult words or hit you with a 900-word text wall with one link at the bottom, and are still of good quality. Thank you very much!

Ogre11 has some fairly succinct stories I'm pretty sure. My best bet would also be checking out the Family Friendly section or searching for games with lower maturity ratings (but still high overall ratings) as those might be more geared towards younger audiences.

Sixteen Words.

Tower of Riddles is also a good one if you're looking for, well, riddles, and A Stack of Cats is a fun puzzle game for killing time. IIRC, The Book of Vanishing Tales, while longer, is still relatively short.

There are all of the contest entries for the 24-hour shrimp jam as well, though some of them are better than others.

Honestly, your stories fit the bill. I particularly loved "The Penguin without feet" and it would be a fun movie to watch. I'm actually signed up to review "Where the clouds want to go" and I'm loving it so far, although I haven't finished all the branches.

Here's a list of a few games I've enjoyed that fit your criteria:

When the music's over is a classic fantasy adventure with a lot of branching, page counts that are on average 300-500 words, and doesn't really use overly complex vocabulary for the most part.

Geek is a really awesome horror game by Endmaster that I really loved but I don't see recommended all that often. The style is simple, and it's easy to read, although the maturity rating is an 8/8, so proceed with caution. But it's basically a faction story set in a rowdy carnival that's about to self-implode in civil war, and you as the Geek, the most pathetic member of the carnival, must plot and scheme in order to manipulate people into joining sides in the faction war, thereby assuring your side's victory. It's a lot of fun, the humor is raunchy but hits, and many of the branches proceed in really unexpected directions.

The Butter Bear by pugpup1. The man has a gift for words, and after reading Father Leofwine is Dead and the butter bear, I'm disappointed that he hasn't written more. Father Leofwine is Dead is my favorite of the 2, but it uses some pretty gnarly text walls, so Butter Bear is the best bet for your criteria.

It's a really wholesome story about this bear who loves butter and he and this little girl go on these fantastic adventures to accountant pigs, and a bunch of other cool animals I can't remember off the top of my head right now.

Check out any of these, and let me know if the recs are good! Also, keep writing, your stories are awesome, and you have a great gift for writing wholesome stories that are really good!

Have You Ever Been Chased By a Dinosaur is a event one that may fit the bill. The pages I saw weren't huge anyway and it's pretty interactive, with pictures too. You play a Youtuber on a dino island with some simple puzzles to solve.

Legend of the Folklore Fish is also a good story by the same author, although it's more of a gauntlet-style storygame.
