thats why article mods have to accpet it. if its not needed then it wont be accepted. 20 pts. but w\e the points is i like this idea.
i dont think you should get points at all for walkthroughs. i mean, most games are only one true path anyway lol. there are only about 5 games on the whole site that could use one.
nate
k well whats wrong with getting points for it? Cant hurt. How much is 20 points? A fifth of the easiest rank... like seriously.
AND theres far more then 5 games, some people really are not that good at figuring them out. You want me to make a list?
the problem i have with giving points is simply that people like me, you, solo, havy, and AP would be writing them. we dont need the points anymore lol.
oh, i think most everyone on the site that has made a game is capable. problem is that noone other than a select few know they are aloud to write articles. therefore, it would never get done until people like us do it.
k well then thats easily solveable. i know how to publisize the forums what if after every post i left something like. I post alot so something like that would be read..
"You have the power, write some articles. Get some points"
What!? God I messed up. I meant:
I try to steer clear of needing a walkthrough for any story I make. I also steer clear of death screens (unless needed for some game).
LOL.. Anyway, I hate writing death scenes, game overs, etc.etc. Why? Because soon, there will be more game overs, and you will have to write it again and again. Highly annoying to me.
Anyway, JJJ, ANSWER THIS QUESTION PLEASE!
What?! You hate Game Overs? I love them! Making fun of the player and their death so that Death becomes more funny than a happy clown in a horror movie with a chainsaw? I love that. Especially DZD, and a cool story I'm writing right now.
I LOVE death!
Are there walkthru articles now? Only one I know is the WalMart one inside of the WalMart game.
It's trivial to add a category.
There are no real walkthroughs that I know of. But I also don't think there should be a separate category for them or that writers of walkthroughs get points for them. If a player is stuck in a game, why not PM the author or post a question in the forums?
The main problem with having a walkthrough category is that there aren't really any guidelines on what storygames need a walkthrough. I mean, somebody could write a walkthrough for bobandgeorge's storygame The Quest, which is a length 2.
The only way I can see this working is if an upvote/downvote system is put in place for walkthroughs (similar to hiddendragon's request for article ratings) where members can rate walkthroughs on how helpful they are. Points would only be awarded for walkthroughs if the walkthrough rating rises above a certain number.
JJJ has a walkthrough for one of his games but a section like this would be great for more complex games put out by members espiecally ones with many different endings and outcomes.
Rather than this, why don't we just have a new section of the forum where people can discuss the different storygames? There they can ask for help if they need it, or authors can post a walk-through if they think others might want it. The only section we have for them right now is the Writing Workshop, which is more for before the game is actually published.
Parlor room...
Ehhhhh. Should be low priority or rejected, IMO.
