I'm going on April 20th. I'm broke at the moment but as soon as I start work next week I'm getting that action kit.

Okay, I've done a little research. I definitely agree with capturing this guy, but I'm not sure if Invisible Children is the right way to go about it.

Or rather - it'll get results but I'm not sure if IC have the right intentions.

Well, assuming that wiki is correct and they profit by $262,000, I'm not sure if that's a problem.

It says that the three film-makers made a combined pay of $262,000, which amounts to almost 90,000 each. It also says that that money accounts for a combined 2.93% percent of their total profits.

If I buy the 30$ action kit, I'd be giving them about 88 cents. I'm assuming the rest goes to the charity / operating costs. I think $90,000 is a bit excessive, but considering that they don't parade as a not-for-profit organization and they are doing a great thing, I'm not sure if they're all that bad.

After all, why shouldn't they profit? If everyone profited from doing good things, I think the world would be a better place.

I'm not against the producers making money, they have to do it somehow. However if the world worked like that then it would be the new expectation to be rewarded for doing a good thing, thus the selfless good deed forever dies.

Kony

Really? Because I think that expectation already exists for the most part and yet people still commit selfless acts.

I don't think it's so much making people expect rewards as these guys who spend most of their time in Africa getting a little compensation. I really don't think its a big deal considering how long they've been doing this.

Even good and generous people need to eat take care of themselves and feed ther families.

Cool, a person can easily feed and take care of their family for less than $90,000 a year.

But as for the other comments, $90,000 seems like a fair enough wage considering the work that they do, it was just a little surprising considering what line of work they were in.

Anyone who is interested, JJJ sent me this link which shows Invisible Children's response to their criticisms. I read it and I do believe that Invisible Children have the right intentions with what they're doing. While I still don't think it's responsible to simplify the issue so much, considering what society's like now this is a lot better than there being no awareness at all (which would have likely happened without the video).

Peter Pan ran a militia of small children, but as soon as a black man does it....
