A simple question about ratings

A simple question, really:

How exactly is score calculated in storygames?

I get that players voe, then afer a certain time (24 hours I am pretty sure), you get the global score... My question is how exactly is score calculated, with all of the little modifiers.

Thank you for taking the time to answer :)

Following is a summary of all of the ratings for this game. Of the ratings, (number) were left by members of the site; the remaining were left anonymously. Note that when calculating the overall game rating, additional factors are considered, such as a higher weight on member ratings and an exclusion of ratings outside the standard deviation.

I'm not really sure if this answers your question, but there's some information above.

It's a secret.

No, really.

There is an algorithm that does apply a formula. Guests votes are weighted less and members are weighted higher. Outliers are excluded. I believe that your own rating is ignored as well.

How would it work if member ratings are ignored?

It just takes 30 min. for it to re-run the algorithm and calculate the new average rating.

As far as I know, only your own ratings of your own game are ignored when calculating the rating for that game.

I am not sure if your own ratings are annoyed, I've seen newbies write rubbish, rate it an 8 and then it shows up as an 8 for a while until other people all post 1's and 2's and the player rating is ignored for being so far outside the range. I think if a player rates his story within the range other people rate it (like giving it a 6 when other people are giving it 4-6) it still counts. Not certain on that though...

annoyed/ignored, one leads to the other so apparently I get them mixed up :P

To add to this, I think higher point total members are weighed more than lower point total members for ratings.

That's correct. I've personally seen the effect my rating has on a game that was otherwise rated only by new members.
