This might just be a stupid question; feel free to belittle me about it, but I do not know what the Thunderdome is or where to find info on it. I searched the Help Articles, and there is nothing that even hints towards it -- at least from what I've seen.

Any idea where I could find information about it, or what it is?

Edit: The linked one had story games, though short stories are more common for the Thunderdome.

Going to be taking a break in it till after New Year's once this last match is up, but basically they're set up with two authors writing a short story on the same theme that I give them, which I post for them anonymously so that people can vote on them.

(We try to limit them though because people's attention spans are limited, and interest will sharply drop off after too many in a row.)

There's actually a Thunderdome match going on right now. While you're there, it'll be great if you could cast a vote and as a bonus, try to guess which story I wrote :)

EDIT: Wait- that's the bracket not the thunderdome. Are they the same and I didn't realize they were? I could have sworn Mizal said they just had the same idea.

They are not the same. I get that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all, but just the same, cheap knockoffs do not carry the Thunderdome brand.

I should actually be deeply offended Mystic would suggest such a thing, but I suppose it's to be expected from someone who hangs out with the staff of the Gayzette but has never had the guts (or the brevity) to enter an actual Thunderdome match.

I'll have you know that I mastered brevity and wrote a story under 2k words (and I only needed to cut 300 words!)

I recently found out that the full phrase is 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness', not that it helps the Gazette at all. But I take your point and from now I'll refer to them as Thunderdome-inspired brackets.

Oh so the full quote is an actual insult, nice. I'll have to remember to use that again sometime.

Well, just in case someone needs an easy opponent, I am happy to volunteer.

Whenever the next thunderdome availability opens next year, I'd like to formally challenge you. I doubt you'd be an easy opponent, much the opposite in fact, but I think it could be a really good learning experience for me.

Once I have my first few story games published, I might consider a Thunderdome. Also, thank you for all the information, everyone!
