Voting Rules & FAQ
1) Do I need to read all the stories in order to vote?
The threshold for judging is 1/2 of the entries. (In this case, six)
The survey gives the option to say you haven't read a particular story.
Authors: if you entered a story into the contest, you are automatically considered a member of the Judges Pool.
Yes, you may vote for your own story.
Everyone Else: the Spectator's Pool is open to anyone who would like to enter. Just PM Seth for a code.
2) What if I couldn't reach an endgame link?
That still counts as having read the story. (However, authors should be providing walkthroughs.)
3) What's the difference between Judges Pool and Spectator Pool?
The Judges Pool Results take precedence over the Spectator Pool Results. ie; if they select different winners, the Judges Pool Winner is the Overall Winner and SP is the runner-up.
Judges Pool includes all contest entrants, as well as a select group of other qualified voters.
4) Can you give me an idea of what questions the voting survey asks?
Storygames will be rated on Overall Writing Ability and Riddle/Puzzle Quality, as well as being ranked into a Top 5. The survey also asks voters to select their favorite puzzle.
5) Why does the voting survey ask if I used a walkthrough? Will that affect a story's overall rating?
This question works in tandem with the question on puzzle quality. If a story is consistently rated "too easy" or "too hard" it helps to be able to see if people actually played the puzzles or had the answers given to them.
6) For the final ranking question, why can I only rate 5 stories?
Because realistically, there's not much difference between 8/12 and 9/12.
7) What time on Thursday does the voting period end?
Friday the 11th is when the vote surveys will be analyzed.
Anything submitted by then will be taken into consideration.
8)When will we know the results?
That depends on how many vote surveys are submitted.
