This is the only site I know that combines genuinely good writing and serious writing discussion with a forum and community constantly producing such a unique, special brand of lulz. Every time I get online I'm like, 'I wonder what hilarious stupidity and drama CYS members have in store for me today', and it never, ever disappoints.

I've been stuck in a gross old laundromat full of screaming children all morning and thanks to you people I'm the ONLY one in here who's smiling. And I'm sure I'll continue to do so right up until I'm beaten by dirty poors and have my Kindle stolen.

Edit: HAHAHA, just when I thought today couldn't get funnier, there's a new WC story.

I love you too.

Ah, but as for the story, I can't seem to find it anywhere.  :(

Edit: Nevermind,  read it and I'm just stunned. I knew things were only going to get better as soon as I read what I was going to be named in the story. *sigh*

Ha ha, you have to take your dirty panties to a laundromat like a poor scrub.

Yaaaay, I'm finally home. I've figured out why poor people are poor now, it's because they have to spend so much fucking money every time they want to wash their clothes. Hanging around a laundromat for any length of time also is what makes them want to do crimes, either to be able to afford a washing machine and never having to go to a laundromat again or else just because of the general loathing of all humanity the experience inspires.

As for further adventures, I stopped to get lunch on the way home and in the parking lot I was asked for money by a genuine homeless person. It's so rare to see a real one in this town anymore, I gave him $5 to go buy drugs with.

Anyway, I'm going to go get settled in now and then play Subnautica until the crippling anxiety and dread it causes makes it impossible to continue. So, about nine minutes. And then I'll go work on a story.

This can now be a thread about video games. Does anyone else have Subnautica? And @Endmaster, you may want to keep an eye on www.trannygame.com, it's by the Pillars of Eternity people and looks like it would be your sort of game.

Googled Subnautica. Considering I have thalassophobia, if I was to play that game I'd probably have a heart attack because it's entirely underwater.

So yeah, I'll probably check it out.

Thalassophobia is a word I've learned since I started playing. Apparently I have it too but I've always just expressed this feeling as 'OMG FUCK THE OCEAN'.

Pretty much every underwater area I've ever encountered in a game makes me incredibly uncomfortable. (In fact this goes waaaay back, I remember being like, seven, and just absolutely refusing to play the water sections...of Mario games, ffs)

In theory I love Subnautica and I have no regrets on supporting the developer but I pretty much spend every moment I'm not paddling around in the well-lit shallows for babies pissing myself and crying.

This was, to my disappointment, not a link to a video game about trannies.

Whoops what a terrible mistake

That's the on about the crashed spaceship absolutely fucking terrifying sea monster, right?

You crash on an ocean world and have to gather materials to build a base and submarines and things by venturing deeper and deeper into the abyss where all kinds of absolutely fucking terrifying things lurk.

It's in Early Access still with more of a plot and end game in the works, I just got it in the Steam summer sale but there's already plenty of content even for the full price.

There are videos on youtube but you'll have to do some searching to find one without some douchnozzle's face plastered over a quarter of the screen. (This guy I just saw recommended on another forum, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.)

Oh yeah, I have that one. I haven't played it in a while. The last time I played it, I think they just added that weird flaoting island place.

Still, the Reaper still scares the fuck outta me.

You're all a bunch of fuckin' pussies! Subnautica is purdy and glowy!... I will admit, though, the cyclops terrorist fish are terrifying abominations that make me go back and put all my shit in storage before I even think about going into a new cave. At least you can see the Reapers coming, and they don't instantly fuck you to death.

I just want to say, you have great tastes in games. Subnautica is pretty cool especially considering it's still early access, and I enjoy most anything from Obsidian Entertainment and Paradox Interactive. Haven't played Pillars of Eternity yet, but it's definitely high on my to-do list for co-op gaming.

I guess I'd have to actually play Subnautica to see if I got the Cthulhu underwater horror feeling to it, because in all images and videos I've seen of the game, it's too "cartoony" and bright looking to get any real feeling of dread, even with all the monster fish I've seen.

I probably mentioned it before, but the underwater dread feeling was strong in Witcher 3, specifically in Skellegre. There weren't even any large sea monsters in that either, but it still didn't change that feeling if you went diving for treasure in the ocean. Didn't help that sometimes you would catch a glimpse of something huge swimming in the distance.

Even just sailing in those little boats with nothing but water around you and no land in sight made you feel pretty defenseless.

It's hard to say, for me that feeling of dread is there in spades even in the not very dangerous areas, but I don't know how much of that I can attribute to being a huge baby about the ocean.

It's also available for the Oculus Rift so I'm convinced this is a game that will actually kill someone some day.

I love you CYS

There isn't much of that. There's definitely dread, but when there is, it's more like that Minecrafty "Fuck, I HATE exploding monsters!" way, or if you get lost underwater in the dark, a more vanilla, "Fuck, I gotta survive the wilderness!" dread.

I'm sure there's going to be plenty of horror mods in the years following its full release, maybe even a Steampunk mod to give it a Cthulhu feel, and there are big sea monsters, but they're very up-in-your-face, and then gone whenever you pass out of their area of interest. Due to it being an organic, sort of random environment, they don't really cultivate a good atmosphere around that kind of thing. It's not a horror game unless you hate the ocean, it's really a wilderness survival sandbox, and that's how it feels, for the most part.

Okay, finally got around to watching the tyranny stuff. Yeah that does look like a cool game and it's being created by a couple of the better video companies out there right now. Hopefully it's at least Wasteland 2 level in terms of RPG elements.
