Since there's various tiny children bopping around on the forum again, just thought I'd mention this site a few of us have messed around with in the past.

It's another one of those cringy-yet-shamefully-addictive browser pet games like Neopets, except in this one you're breeding a bunch of different varieties of dragons that look like glitter encrusted rainbow vomit, and dressing them up and stuff.

Just remembered an account I haven't touched in two years existed and have been looking through it again, and I don't know, I kind of like it.

There's some occasionally neat lore and the economy is balanced I think impressively well via the ability to combat train and rid the otherwise infinite supply of dragons from the game for currency--there's the ability to buy currency too but really zero need for it unless you're that guy that's like YES, I MUST have this rare collection of pixels that was released only briefly in 2013.

Though on the surface it's all very kid friendly to the point of stupidity. Dragons "breed" by magic and the exalting mechanic whereby you send dragons you don't have room for anymore to "be with their god" is totally NOT death, you guys, the dragon just went to live on a farm in the sky.

Also, sometimes fleshy chunks off the animals in the entire ecosystems you rip through end up in your inventory, but those are just Shade-possessed spectres, no animals were harmed. You also absolutely don't melt down your dragons' beloved, trusting pets--some of which are sapient races with cultures of their own whose armed forces your dragons routinely rampage through--into a cauldron for alchemy ingredients, we don't need to talk about that. (I am pretty sure the devs are winking at the camera at times.)

Typical gameplay is either five minutes a day of collecting items, clicking nests, and tossing excess junk (including dragons) in the auction house, or you can grind simple old school Flash looking JRPG style battles for hours to collect loot and level dragons for your elemental Flight leaderboard if you're INSANE. There's also this whole side of it where people write elaborate biographies for their dragons, for a different kind of insanity. There are various no pressure outlets for whatever your personal autism is in that way, but the real game of course is about hoarding pretty pretty pretty dragons until you can afford to alter their genes with unethical magic and then put them in the perfect outfit.

I think technically you need to be 13 to play, but Avo just ask your mom to unblock it for you and then lie when you register.

Well I'm going to turn 13 in 2 months anyway, it's not that long.

If you have any old festival items they might be worth quite a bit of pretend money.

Wait were you one of those QUIRKY gay kids writing about QUIRKY gay dragons? The community sure has a lot of those, my eye kind of starts to twitch after about ten seconds browsing profiles over there.

Oops sorry I just saw this now. But no, I wasn't really into that kind of stuff. I only thought dragons were sick and rad but not in a gay furry (scaly??) way. I don't even remember my old account, so a week or two ago I just made a new one lol. I spent a silly amount of time procrastinating on my writing playing FR mahjong...

Now that the contest is over and I can trust myself to open this thread: yes, I played this. It was too much of a time waster for me though so I had to force myself to quit

They was this race I came up with when I was ten or eleven called Faerie Dragons that contributed to a little bit of an obsession since the Faes were similar enough that I could project a bunch of those ideas into them.

Now that everyone has a whole month before they even need to THINK about writing their story, just bumping this to mention this is where all the cool CYStians can now be found.

Me, MHD, Sherb, Petros, Enter, possibly also soon long vanished members Sabley and Iris. (If Iris can be brought away from righteous fury at her manager and Sabley pried from Pokopia...oh wait, that one actually is hopeless, never mind.)

There is also this browser based dressup game MHD got me into, it's a little 18+ though, as far as simple drawings of Barbie dolls can be anyway, so I'm not sure about linking it here. (Does Avo still not click on things just because an adult tells her not to, or does she do the opposite like a normal kid?)

But I haven't been able to use my laptop for awhile due to some fun issues with my eyes, I survive each day only through pretty dressup brainrot held six inches from my face, be they glittery cartoon dragons or pixellated bimbos.

For Avo specifically though actually, you should get Time Princess on your phone, it's an educational reading CYOA collection AND in many ways is the world's most advanced dressup game. @Daji is into it. (You do need a newish phone though...I sadly had to uninstall because the game seemed linked to the dwelling place of an eldritch entity with a bottomless hunger for all the space on my phone, one update at a time.)

Well, this seems to have dragons in it, so I'll see if this isn't blocked for me sometime later.

Also, it has lore. I like lore. Lore is nice. Please give me the lore.

Did you ever get to check if it was blocked?

Or if it is, maybe you could get a parent to remove the filter? They have their own filters and the site is pretty PG. (Not that that's stopped Peng and Suranna...)

Yeah, it's blocked. The school implemented a much larger blanket ban on websites (that also happened to block almost every artistic/image site in existence). Hell, even a few Google things are blocked.

That's a really cool one; I think the strength of Pearlcatchers is that they seem to look good in most apparel, while a lot of other dragons are really hit or miss with most items (I'm in my anti-Spiral arc right now, their designs are already so busy and dressing them up is a disaster)

Spirals are very hit and miss, true, you need one without overly busy genes and then to be picky with clothes, but there's a couple styles that look decent. The silks and pieces of the jester's motley look pretty nice I think. Although, sometimes all you need is nice colors and genes, not every dragon has to be overdressed.

Those are good! Especially that third one, I love those colors.

And yeah, that's kind of why I managed to make my peace with Ancients despite their vast limitations- there's just so much opportunity for nice looking genes and colors and skins and accents and effects and more, ultimately dressing up the dragons isn't always necessary even for modern breeds.
