No, it sucked, the protagonist is just an overpowered sociopath that caters to the typical teenage-young adult male fantasy. Don't like someone or something? Just kill it. Great moral lesson to teach our young people and perpetuate needless machoism that sadly already dominates our society and culture.
There isn't one strong female character in the story. And don't even bring up Catalina. She's little more than window dressing and never really given too much characterization. In fact she's just a cliche stand in for the "good wife" that mindlessly "stands by her man" right or wrong.
The Necromancer's mother and sister are much the same. They're put up on these pedestals of "goodness" and made out like they are powerful but are actually ineffectual. In the mother's case it's actually worse since she COULD have done something directly, but didn't. Instead she just goes along with whatever the protagonist decides. She's ultimately weak. And don't even get me started on the whole marrying her rapist thing.
Who's our other choice? Sinthinia? She's a scheming, duplicitous demonic succubus who is the exact opposite of the "perfect female"
Obviously the author has severe issues with womyn if he only categorizes them as "Madonnas" and "whores"
In fact I'm continually baffled by why this so called "author" is so popular on here. All he does is write thinly veiled (And most of the time not so thinly veiled) misogynistic, homophobic and sometimes racist screed mixed with male power fantasies in all of his stories. He routinely contributes to perpetuating rape culture and slut shaming by making crude unfunny jokes about it.
Necromancer isn't even the worst of the lot. That title goes to Eternal, which is practically an unapologetic endorsement of the straight white male fascist patriarchy that makes Necromancer look practically open minded by comparison.
As a multi-racial trans-lesbian I am deeply offended by this "End Master" and feel that we should not be encouraging those sorts of stories here. In fact we should be encouraging more stories that feature female protagonists (and gay protagonists) fighting against this sort of injustice.
Come on people, this is the 21st century, the days of encouraging this sort of bigotry needs to die.
