I was bored yesterday night so I grabbed a pen and paper, and this story just popped into my head.

Basically it starts off with the arrival of a strange object of unknown origin and the subsequent fireball which is atmospheric entry. The object is found by locals of a nearby town which all too quickly becomes infected by a strange biological agent that was stored within the object. This agent, which is a silicon-based crystalline structure, horribly mutates the host into something truly alien. Naturally, this sudden and traumatic mutation causes the instant death of the infected human, but moments later the body’s final metamorphosis is completed and an extragalacitc mind takes over.

Smarter, stronger, agile and far more hardy than the average human, these “Mutates” spread the agent to cause a global pandemic to convert all of humanity into their own likeness. It is later discovered that the agent is not only a nanomachine construct with a hive intelligence and a memory capacity far exceeding even current theories of quantum-based computing, but that it is actually a form of interstellar colonization that readily adapts the original species to the environment of their new home by essentially taking over the dominant sapient species that is already adapted to said planet. It’s a rather novel solution to space travel that has holocaustic consequences for all of humanity.

I like it!.

Interesting base for a story, I immediately thought it was some kind of zombie-story when you mentioned the locals getting infected though. lol But that was obviously not the case.

I like the interesting take on a Sci-Fi invasion, as far as I know it's quite original. I think you should definetly pursue this story and write it up. I do recommend asking Endmaster about this since it sounds like something as long as the 'Necromancer' or 'Ground-Zero' with a similar amount of choices. :)

Will it be similar to World War Z at all? I mean in the way he wrote it so you would have individual stories telling the situation of the world throughout the book. I think that this story would fit better into something like that but it's up to you really.

[Off topic]but I find the Xtro creature picture amusing. lol Obviously I hope you don't use that horrible movie as inspiration for your story. xD No, I've never watched it but from what I just looked up it was a pretty bad movie.
