Wake up, muse!

Wake up, I say!

You were so full of ideas just a couple weeks ago, but now you sleep? Get up! Awaken!

Come, look, there is a keyboard here, ready for your suggestions. Look there -- two, no three different stories ready for your direction. Join me, muse, in completing those stories (or at least making SOMETHING happen in them today)!

Tell me, muse, where will the story go next? What will happen to Rory? How will the spy escape? What will it take to win the election? Come now, muse, and let me know where these stories will go so we can share them with all those who will read them and get a few minutes pleasure and distraction from their days.

Or even, if none of those attract your attention today, muse, tell me of the next story! Tell me of times past when the apprentice started in the farmhouse. Tell me of great kings and battles of old! Take me to the old west, to the romance of night in the city, or to the far future where people travel in ships both far and near. Come muse, wake up and guide me!

Please?

Come on, muse, I know you are there! I hear a tiny voice making some sounds, but I can't quite make out the words. I think I can hear the story going forward with Rory, but I'm just not sure. Is that where we are going to go again today, or is there another adventure that you would like to go on today? I'm open to wherever you want to take me, whether it be a school, the streets of Prague, or somewhere completely new.

I think it's dead.

No, no, I'm sure it is not!

I can hear it again today, just barely. The muse lives, and the muse wants to tell me the story, but it sounds so far away. There are so many other distractions. There are other voices, other sounds, other people who are making so much more noise! Work cries out, demanding attention. The lure of a paycheck is strong.

Yet I still hear the muse, sitting quietly, with a story to tell. Yes, I think I heard part of the story about Rory wanting to be told, wanting to see the light of day. I close my eyes to listen more carefully and I catch a word or two, but then the musical voice of the muse is drowned out by the caterwauling of those who want my "professional services" in exchange for cash money. Oh, to silence those harsh cries and yet still retain the relatively uninterrupted flow of dollars (so's I can eat!).

Ah, my good muse, keep the story going, be silent no more. I shall deal with the grating voices who demand my services now, but I shall soon return to listen again, to listen to the stories that need to be told. I shall very soon return to gently wake the muse and continue writing the story...

(Hey, I wonder if there's another CYS story in there about finding your muse...)

If you wrote one about this, I'd totally read it.

Coffee for your muse? :)

Heh. I'm picturing it as more of a puzzle storygame where you spend the entire story trying to get to your muse or to hear your muse or something like that. I'm thinking 9/10 endings end with you NOT finding your muse!

At least a couple could end with you finding something else, though! :D Maybe cake! Or a gru!

I only ever knew of a gru, and had no idea what the hell a grue might be.. So thanks, both, for this interesting class of English.

One path will lead to gru. Another will lead to Grue. Yet another will lead to English class. Still another to cake.

Everyone covered?
