Plaacchei Story Idea

I came up with this story idea based off of the "Cicada 3301" puzzle on the Internet.

You play as a person who comes across a similar puzzle on the Internet, and you sign up and set out to solve it. This puzzle, however, will involve more going outside and doing things in the real world than just solving puzzles on a computer. Because the world is a big place and the makers of the puzzle can't set up a game for everyone, you and only a few other people are accepted to be able to participate in solving the puzzle. This makes your goal to complete it before anyone else does and win, but some challenges will require teamwork to pass... The storyline will change depending on how you solve puzzles and get answers.

I'm not a big fan of writing stories, so if you really like this idea and want to make a story game out of it, feel free to do so. I'm probably not going to make this storygame.

Well thanks for posting the idea! Many writers here ask for ideas for a story, so hopefully someone will make this.

I cant recall any of those people actually finishing a story.

Oh. my. god.  I want this.

Not the cicada story.

I want to list all my ideas and have someone else make stories/games out of them.  XD

Neil Gaiman quote:

"Every published writer has had it - the people who come up to you and tell you that they've Got An Idea. . . .The proposal is always the same - they'll tell you the Idea (the hard bit), you write it down and turn it into a novel (the easy bit), the two of you can split the money fifty-fifty.
. . .

The Ideas aren't the hard bit. They're a small component of the whole. Creating believable people who do more or less what you tell them to is much harder. And hardest by far is the process of simply sitting down and putting one word after another to construct whatever it is you're trying to build: making it interesting, making it new.

Very nice and apt quote.

I still remember when I was a teenager and my siblings always wanted to use my stories/poetry for classes and claim them as theirs. Or ask me to write a new one for them. Hated that!

I also think it would be extremely unfair to split 50-50. Especially considering the writer put in entirely more effort. An idea can be formed in less than a minute, but a story takes anywhere from weeks to years to create, depending on the type and length of story.

The 'puzzle in the real world' bit sounds a little like an ARG. I think someone could make a good story out of it, but then again I think a good story could be made out of just about any idea, the difficult part is always finding the time to sit down and do it.

I'm starting to wonder though whether we ought to have one big thread for people to post ideas, or ask for ideas. Maybe another for 'here is my first page' or other writing samples and feedback. Seems like it would reduce a lot of the clutter there's been lately.
