I'm new. I need help: I can't post an avatar photo! I clicked on: Avatar photo, but the only options I had was: none. What? Can someone please explain this? 

In "my stuff" you have "pictures" to which you can upload... pictures. (Shocking, I know.) You can then use those for your avatar. No, we do not have any preloaded on the site, you gotta get your own. Also, welcome to the site, hope you enjoy your stay, and please read the articles of the Help & Info section because they are immensely helpful to newcomers.

Hello and welcome! Aside from Kiel's invaluable advice, I would like to add...

if you are using mobile, especially Android devices, they can sometimes be stubborn about uploading pics. You can also add a pic using a site such as Imgur. Just upload your pics on an image sharing site, and then upload it to this one, and Tadah!! You have a pic... hope this helps. :P
