My message notifications aren't leaving me, even after I click on them. In fact, they are piling up.
I got a message from Aman, replied to it, and then got a message from him again, now it tells me I have 2 unread messages.

Well that sucks, I can only say I don't have that problem.

Something happening with then to me today. I note that the sight is timing out while trying to loade the message banner at the top.

Everything else - like the pages loads up, just not the Meeage Alter Banner...

Today, my stuff was somewhat fucked up, on some o the tabs I had open, while it usually just pops up, I had to reload the pages to get the new message to pop up. 'Twas rather odd.

still happening, that one "1 unread message" message refuses to go away. When I get a message from someone else, it goes up, and when I read those messages, it goes back down, but never to 0, always to 1.

You don't happen to have multiple pages of messages do you?

Yes, quite a few in fact.

(I never delete them)

Maybe one got missed or time stamped wrong - try opening all of them to see if that shuts off your message alert. (worth a try anyway) -   :)

Hmm, what about erasing all 'cookie' data?

Individually deleted every single chooseyourstory cookie, just to be sure, nothing.

Check on a different browser.

It's there on Safari as well.

What about all history? 

Nothing.

It happend to me once, but I don't remember whether it was a old unread post or not. But I think it wasn't that

You know, i'm actually kind of getting used to the little guy. I mean, he haunts my nightmares, but bob the message notification bar is sort of like a familiar, urking insanity now.

I want one of those!

It just... Gets so lonely on my account, you know?

He's joined mine now as well. It's watching me! O.o

this still happens to me roughly once a week. 

I made a thread about it when I missed 20+ messages in one day. and It still seems to revolve around when Aman messages. (which isnt often anymore as we mainly talk on BHB) but it still happens to random messages.

I've entertained the idea that it is because I am logged in on various devices (Wii U, Android phone, Kindle HDX,  laptop, Desktop)

It gets kind of soothing, doesn't it? To have that little urgent symbol always there, slowly tearing apart your internal nervous system with it's greedy, blood-dripping fingers?

It's kind of enlightening, you know? It's telling me that I will never read all of the messages, no matter how many times I click on them. I need to let some messages go sometimes.

But, it's not from you, obviously, since it's been occurring to multiple people. 

This one started after a PM from Tan...

Son of a bitch, now it shows as two PMs that I can't ever read.

I'm thinking this concerns the memory of the site itself...

*screaming* I FOUND THE CURE I FOUND THE CURE! JUST DELETE THE MESSAGE WHERE THE BUG IS IN, AND IT'LL DISAPPEAR! YAY! :D

Only works if your not just leaving older messages alone because they are good to have and look back on.

If your a newer member then it's easy to do.

It would've work if you deleted them on the day the bug was found. That way you don't have to delete ALL of your messages.

Besides, copy and paste is the cure for that. 

I have no idea which one that as and personally I don't care to find out, all the messages I have are ones I plan to keep. :)

Damn it, now it's happening to me too. I deleted the message that caused the never ending notification, but that didn't fix it.

It's not that bad infected brother, you will come to accept living under the ever vigilant eye of the Immortal Notification.

Hey, weird. It happens whenever sentinel pm's me.  Only him.

So Sentinel is the plague bearer?

No, Drak said it was a pm from Aman that infected him.

Here's a theory. Drak always get infected by Aman, while you always get infected by Penguin. Maybe it only happens to the one person you p.m the most? Just a theory. 

It may have something to do with overloading the Message System with too many saved messages (based on total number of replies in them all).

Try pruning your PMs to see if that will help.

It may also have to do with too many people messaging you at once. That may also overloads the system, might it?
