Best. Possible. Ending.

Let me explain: When the author makes endings, if he(she) chooses to have one ending that's way better then the other ones, instead of adding an end game link she would ad a BPE. Then someone who rated (commented) on the game, would have a X2 Multiplier if they finished with the best possible ending.  That way people who beat teh game have a weighted say over those who just found the first end link.

i think you may be on to something here 3j. however, let me add my spin that it think you may not be thinking...

how about this, you have an option when making a game to put another kind of End Link. Instead of the normal end link you can add a BPE mentioned above. however, instead of a multiplier just make it more important a rating just as if it were from a member. each game will only be allowed one BPE so thatway you can find the final page that the author intended you to find.

Difference: instead of a multiplier... maybe make it count twice?

ok, thats not much different from yours 3j, sorry. lol

Ya I frgot to mention there can only be one, but thats what I meant.  I totally agree that teh player should be able to know when he's hit the BPE.

I hear what you're saying -- however this is something that we can already accomplish with the SCORE.

One thing I have been thinking about (for ADV storygames)  is to customize the header text on the comments page so that you can indicate what scores relate to what ending.

But still, we want winners to have more of a vote.  Now here is an interesting idea - Your score determines your voting power and for members it's automattically tripiled. (not score, voting power)

Voting? Are you refering to the Ratings? or Comments?

Right now, member ratings are counted a lot higher than anonymous ratings ...

Ratings.

What I'm saying is, if you have 5 as a score your rating counts 5 times!  If you get a score of 500, you rating counts 500 times!  If there is no score everyone gets a vote of one and only one.

Members have there vote count the highest points they got if they played it more than once.

This would slow down anybody's though of making a game rated 8 over and over by being a visitor and dying as quick as possible and rating it 8 over and over again.  They would have to get to the best ending possible to win.

nonononononono  Thats not what I'm saying.  If you achieve teh B_P_E then your rating count (towards the game rating) is multiplied by 2, so if a member is rated 8X for then a geust but the member didn't get the BPE and the guest did then the member would only be 4X more then that guest.  But iof the member got the BPE and the guest didn't then the member would get a 16X more then the guest.  Capiche?

I understand your idea.  My idea is different.

OK I get it. However, I don't think it would give a more accurate picture of the storygame.

Think about it -- if you "invest" a long time going through a storygame, and you get the BPE, you will rate it higher than if you didn't. But the rating is a tool for perspective readers/players -- who will rarely get the BPE -- so they will feel that a higher rating is unfair.

See where I'm coming from?

Well, what about voting points determined by score?

Then the author could make it so hard only he could guess it and give it a 60464563463546+ bonus.

Yah, but who would do that?
