im thinking of doing a very unique story idea which i don't think anyone has done.. erm im wanting to do a story on the based on the "dark web/deep web http://www.vox.com/2014/12/31/7470965/dark-web-explained take the link if you don't know it.im planning to start research on it  and could maybe do with some people who also might be interested in  researching with me. i do want to say that you should be prepared to see some really screwed up stuff from what ive heard (ive never been on it myself yet) and do you think itd be an okay idea or not?!

 

So you're doing a story about child porn rings, drug and arms dealing organizations, conspiracy nuts, terrorist cells, illegal human experimentation, and assassins for hire?

I certainly hope so, because most of what's on the deep web is just dead links, hoaxes and boring shit that is only of use to various companies since it's their own boring data. (Or I suppose hackers, but anything could be useful for their purposes)

^I tried to order a 1911 handgun slinky toy from a site in there, but the order link was dead.

10/10 would make illegal invalid purchase again.

Anyway, it doesn't sound like a bad idea for a story if you make the paths involving all the negative tales one hears about the deep web being true.

I will say if you are going on the deep web to do a little research on the real thing, you still should make sure your computer protection is up to snuff and definitely don't click on any links that have "CP" in them.

What EndMaster says is good advice, but if you don't feel like browsing it, you can always use /r/deepweb for research.

There was a forum on the deep web called "Violent Desires" (Dunno if it's still around) which was supposed to be where serial killers, child rapists and the like all talked about their crimes, how they went about it and how they enjoyed it. You probably can find screen shots of it on the regular web.

It had threads like "Need advice in disposing of a body." "Chloroform and how to make it" "Anyone have pics of dead kids?" etc.

It's so over the top that it was most likely a hoax and not a "serial killer" forum. Just a bunch of people just making up the most demented shit they could think of for the lulz. (Basically what we do on here from time to time)

But of course for story purposes this type of forum could be very real when the protagonist stumbles on it. You could call it "Brutal Obsessions" or something.

That actually sounds like a good story.

Certainly could be a fun story. No need to mess around with the actual dark web, though, just use your imagination. Actually, if you use your imagination, I think you'll create something a LOT more fun than the dark web. Last time I was wandering around there about 75% of links were dead links. It was ugly. And I don't mean just nasty stuff, the web pages themselves were slow, simple, and just ugly.

i think if you do this please dont incude the torturing part and just the drugs cause i dont think i can take it.

Hmm, been awhile since an update on this. Hope kamika didn't go deep web exploring and get himself red roomed in the process.
