Hey!

I'm new-ish, I've had this account for a while but I haven't a had a lot of free time to do my own thing until recently. I'm not sure how much I'll post, but I'll try to say my piece here and there to keep myself involved. I haven't played many story games yet, but one that I've really liked a lot so far is The Devil's Fire by Ashen_Snake.

Though I can't promise anything I create will be top quality, hopefully I can make something everyone will enjoy one of these days. So; a big "Hello' to everyone, and thanks for taking the time to read my post. :)

'ello! Welcome! Enjoy your stay. Wipe your feet before you come in. Please note that we are all insane here. :D Join the asylum.

Greetings aside, if you need help with anything, then there are various people that would be ideal to ask. BradinDvorak, Nmlessx, or BerkaZerka for scripting/various other tricks. Kiel_Farren for writing tips and such. He's very friendly, so don't let the fact that he's published a couple really amazing stories intimidate you.
Occasionally, I'm open for art requests if you need it. Feel free to ask, and if I have time, then I'll see what I can do. I don't think it hurts to ask. It's never hurt me at least. ^_^ JamesCoker1226 and Kiel_farren are among my favorite people to chat with via pm. A simple chat an get you motivated to write. Most of the time. Sometimes it can be a little too distracting. I don't mind talking as well.

If you're looking for good stories, I'd recommend these, if you haven't read them already.

Thanks for the warm welcome and guidance TacocaT! I'll definitely check out some of the games you've posted to see what things are all about here on CYS. Also, I appreciate the direction to nice and helpful people, it can be daunting for the new guy to get the hang of the ins-and-outs of things and it's nice to know that there's a sense of community and uniformity on the site.

And TacocaT (though you've probably already noticed, Gale,) is a sweetheart, who happens to be gifted in art, spotting errors, writing, and generally being an awesome person.

Hey!

I'll second that.

See? That's why they're my favorite people to talk with via pm. XD Very nice.

Welcome to CYS. My name is James. If you need any help, feel free to PM me.

Hey!

Thanks! If I need any help I'll let you know, no doubt the advanced editor will give me trouble, seems daunting at first glance. Any and all help is appreciated, and with that being mentioned, another thank you for posting the games' hyperlinks on the thread for me! MVP-level hospitality.

Don't mention it. Just consider it a buffer against the fact that you and any other member of the community with so much as a residual amount of respect for me will likely hate my guts in a few days or so when I have a psychotic breakdown after I discover I won't be able to pay for school next semester or the sheriffs show up to impound my dog, whichever happens first.

In regard to the advanced editor, though, you would do well to ask Brad or Killa for help, rather than me. You can also ask Berka for assistance, but be warned, he is actually a handmaiden of Azazel who will swallow your firstborn offspring; I've seen it happen three times. For literary advice, Kiel is the go-to guy. He may not be able to proofread an entire epic-length story, but he can offer fairly quick feedback on character and plot ideas.

Stressful situations get the best of good people every now and then, I hope things work out for you, and if you do have said psychotic breakdown then I'm positive there will be helping hands lent to you; you seem to be pretty big and influential in the community and many people probably think highly of you, I don't think you need to worry about everyone's opinion of you turning on a dime. The more you worry about a bad situation, especially one you cannot change, the worse off you'll be. I know I can't say much more than long complicated versions of "Don't stress!', I'm not living your situation and I know it's not that easy to shrug it off - but if you want to talk about it - myself and many others would likely hear you out.

Thanks for the references, I'll ask around and read articles when it comes time to fiddle with the advanced editor to a large extent; I have anti-demon charms placed on all entrances, exits, and shadows in my home, so my firstborns will likely be safe. *comic shrug* "What could possibly go wrong?'

Sorry, I was going for "funny", not "whiney". Oops. XD

Haha. Nice to know.

Not worries, I couldn't tell if it was in jest or serious; I just kind of assumed serious. Wasn't really whiny at all, I'm just a low-key knight in shining armor. >.<

But, all that aside, thanks for everything. Hit me up any time if you feel so inclined.

Hey!

I was trying to be both at the same time, with the end result being comedic. I learned everything I know about humor from a textbook sociopath who made me kill small, fluffy animals with my bare hands and eat them. So, naturally, you can expect my humor to be confusing at best and horribly off-color at worst.

But, enough about that.

No problem. I assume you're aware of the site's help section. There are quite a few good articles on scripting and advanced editor use.

Hey!

Understood, and I came across the help section a while ago but admittedly I forgot about it; it's one of those things I figured existed but never checked out in enough detail to make bookmarks and start chewing through. Thanks for the link! You're making this too easy for me. ;)

Pssssst~! Have you found the Theme Override yet? :D

On his profile, if you click up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-B-A then something may happen~! Just don't click on TacocaT. >_< If you do, know that most of those quotes were from months ago on a rp thing. '^_^

Anything's better taken out of context!

As a GM for a game of Dragon Age Tabletop, I can vouch for that statement. Out of context is best context.

Hey!

Well, thank you, too! Admittedly, working on it has probably ended up being a decent chunk of the time I've spent here...

Hey!

Nevertheless, it's still awesome, and any hobby you enjoy doing is usually time well spent.

Okay then, your welcome. I suggest that if you have any problems, go to Help &Info.

Hey!

I'm late to the party, but, pleased to meet'cha, Gale. Glad you decided to step out of lurkdom.

Since you've been around for a year, I suspect you've already checked out the Help & Info section, but if it's been a while... it might be worth in to brush up on some of the articles there. It does have tips on pretty much everything you could possibly do here.

If you do need help with anything, Taco's list was pretty thorough, but the community as a whole will be willing to help if you post questions--expect several smart-alecky answers first, though. Also, I will add that--even though I'm not at Bradin's level, I can absolutely answer scripting questions if you can't find anyone else to poke over them--just not all of them. xD

Also, if you want a confidence booster / some practice before you jump right in to making a game, you might want to check out the writing exercises that Sethaniel is currently hosting in the writing workshop. It's fun, you get points for completing entries, people are constructive rather than critical... good stuff.

Hey!

Nice to meet you too, and me stepping out of lurkdom was just me deciding to try to be more active with me having more time; there's not a lot of point in joining a community if I keep to myself at all times. I've, at this time, sort of mildly skimmed the Help & Info section but I do expect to be doing some heavier reading here soon so I ca get the hang of things.

Thanks for offering your assistance and the warm welcome, I'll be sure to check out the writing exercises in the workshop when I get some free time. I'm going to go visit family for the weekend so my actual activity on the site will be scarce until Sunday afternoon, after I've returned home.

Thanks, nice to meet you too! I took just a bit more than a few months, but better late than never I suppose. >.>

*waves from behind computer screen* Hello and welcome, as all have already said. I'm afraid I'm not able to add much here, since Taco, James and Kiel have already given you such a warm welcome. I'm really interested in seeing anything from you. Unlike most of everyone else, I can actually find the time to proofread so if you ever need anyone, I'm here. Taco is much better at that, though, so ask her first. Kiel is your go-to-grammar guy, Brad has a lot of knowledge of coding and the advanced editor, and Sent (SentinelPenguin, you'll find him in the forums somewhere, especially when he's back on testosterone) is always willing to supply you with a Daily Dose of With and Sarcasm. Will11 is our positive attitude - for motivational speeches! And of course, if you need anyone crazy to help with a storygame containing clowns, babies, and jelly, you will all find them here.

Welcome to the Golden Gates of Cystia.
(my response is really late, ain't it?)

Hey!

You're not any later than my introduction, or my response for that matter; sorry about the slow reply by the way, I visited my family this weekend and my phone decided it didn't want me to reply to you, so a million years later hear I am.

With that being said, thanks for the warm welcome and greeting! I appreciate you coming to say hello even if it's late, trust me; I'll take all of the guidance and direction I can get, being a newcomer and all.

As for your interest in seeing something from me, hopefully I don't disappoint. I have a storygame plotted out, it's just making it not bad that will be a challenge. I might take you up on your offer of proofreading one of these days, a trained eye might be what I need once I get things rolling. >.<
