Awesome work on this issue of the gazette! I loved the Mercer Gang artwork, and I think Neoncat would enjoy it as well. Maybe he could even use it as a cover for Mercer Gang Returns.

I also enjoyed the interviews with Sent, John and Flutter. Sent's been a long standing pillar of the site, so it's always good to see how the site has changed. I also loved his context on how he came up with THAT SCENE, the scene that infamously caused widespread vomit and disgust through oleaginous goblinoid creatures emerging from cooking oil.

And John, I agree with you about K.S.R's Mars trilogy. That is a very unique trilogy in sci-fi for me because of how he painstakingly and scientifically accurately wrote an entire trilogy on terrofrmin Mars. It talks about the practical science behind it and how you would actually go about doing it. Throw some politics in there and you got a great set of books. He actually did a utopian one, a hopeful exploration of humanity's capabilities to struggle and survive, which is refreshing and optimistic.

I thought the first part of Flutter's interview where he talks about Jung was interesting and insightful, at least he's trying to give some idea of where this all came from. Of course, it started to spiral when it got to the topic of Malk, but at least the beginning was wholesome enough.

The murder mystery puzzle is the cherry on top! And the word count matching mini game is really cool as well! Can't wait to solve them. Nicely done y'all!

I fully agree with your assessment of the Mars trilogy.

Ikr! Great to run into another person who's heard of it, glad you and JohnX both enjoy the series. It definetly is something alright, and I was really surprised when John name dropped the Mars trilogy since it's not super well known, especially since it's really hard sci-fi. But it's refreshing compared to the more dystopian sci-fi because it shows a utopian alternative that actually seems somewhat plausible. Maybe we will terraform Mars someday!

Thank you for your comment Anthraxus, it made me happy!

If you can find a copy, you might also look for Space Doctor by Lee Correy. It is a great hard sci-fi look at the first steps I to permanent space habitation.

KSR also wrote some other novels pitched in a similar way. In fact he's a definitely 'prolific' author. Many of his stories appear to be set on near-future earth, but I haven't read 'em....not enough spaceships & planets on the covers for me!

Aurora was another favourite of mine, a generational starship where one of the villains was the constantly evolving smear of bacteria and mold growing in all the crevices and on door knobs, threatening to wipe out the inhabitants. Such a real-world issue.

But the person to person interactions were the centre of the story. Same goes for '2312', like the Mars trilogy somewhat but set all across the solar system. I admire his creativity and ability to keep writing more.

"Sexualizing things that aren't meant to be sexualized is Satanic."

So clearly Flutter never read EndMaster's stories, otherwise it would have been him getting accused of being the AntiChrist or something.

That aside, great issue!

Flutter's final interview is just lol.

Also enjoyed the Swedishlemon reference. Christ, him and his whole family were annoying.

Haha, I was just about to post:

"Excuse my ignorance, but what's MLP?"

I had to go away and look it up. Obviously I've had too much of a shelteted upbringing. I feared it was something like a weird role-playing game called  Mythic Lycanthropy Paranoia.

Epic edition, brave & insightful cutting-edge journalism, not chock full of old-timer in-jokes that would be lost on the relatively noob like me.
