Help the Gazette: Predicting the future

yesterday
I am working on developing an idea for the Gazette, but need input from those of you more active and with better memories than myself. I am looking for activities and events that occur with some degree of repeatability here on the site. Some of the ones I've already come up with are below to give you an example the kinds of things I am looking for.

  • Post breaks the homepage
  • "I'm leaving" drama post
  • Noob post swarm (either one Noob being super talkative, or multiple noobs flooding a thread (or threads) with tons of posts
  • Mod flameout (Mod removes themselves from the site in a dramatic fashion)
  • Non-mod flameout (Some other user removes themselves from the site in a dramatic fashion)
  • Threats (Someone threatens doxxing or some other serious IRL threat)
  • Storygame becomes a viral reference point (something like Mercer Gang or Gay And Depressed)
  • Lol fag post
  • Suggesting suicide

Thanks for your input!

When's the next issue?

We publish on the 8th of each month (give or take). This idea may not show up until November, and may run for more than a month.

Or was this a suggestion?

Racial slurs?

Someone dropping out of a contest in a rambling explanation post that somehow has a higher word count than their actual work?

"I like Ogre"

The second suggestion may be too long (and difficult to adjucate) but the other two are great.

Okay, I shall contribute.

People leaving the site in embarrassment/shame, and taking down their story-games.

Not sure if it's because of a:

"Fuck you guys, you don't deserve to play my story-games anymore!"

or a

"I-I just don't want any ties to this place anymore.."

Perhaps, this is a fate that can befall any CYS member.

See, I helped.

"This thread is for chatting about anything! XDXDXD"

14 year old girl: bleeds colored fonts

Homeschooled autists with ultra-religious control-freak parents.

Aggressive alt spammers sticking frogs up their butts and feeling the need to inform everyone? 🤔

"About to write a story, can someone tell me what to write about?"

"Will you help co-author a story I've done nothing with, based on no information?"

"Here is my totally original story written by AI."

"Please honestly critique this 218 word paragraph, I will write more if there's enough interest."

"I will draw pictures with AI!"

"This guy who has my same IP and got banned 20 minutes ago was such an idiot, haha! I'm new btw."

Entering a contest with a three month deadline and not starting till the last three days.

Bad poetry threads awkwardly ignored.

Terrible low effort stories getting 1000x more attention than good ones.

Some of these are great and short enough to work for sure.

The first suggestion to make me laugh out loud. Good call.

  • Noobs making new accounts to ask why they were banned
  • Noobs accusing the wrong mod of banning them
  • Noobs making an introduction thread just to never log back on again
  • Noob asking for story ideas
  • Overly emo stories or poems/ wannabe edgelords
  • Members arguing which leads to Thunderdome challenges
  • CYStian rivalries
  • Point bets
  • Account bets
  • 'Dead site'
  • A noob's message is edited
  • Someone asks about a member, story or feature that hasn't been around for a long time
  • Random commendations for no reason
  • Storygames without choices
  • Someone asks 'what does [insert word] mean?' when googling it would be quicker
  • Someone insults the wardens
  • That one comment that starts with 'Your writing is masterful as always. The storygame itself is dense with content and choices, and it kept me entertained until the very end. I couldn't help but be curious in all of the possible outcomes and decisions that are so neatly and wonderfully placed in this story...'
  • People praising End (rightfully so)

Your forum post is masterful as always, Mystic. The post itself is dense with content and organized details, and it kept me  entertained until the very end. I couldn't help but be curious in all of the possible ways you could have delivered this post and decision that you so neatly and wonderfully placed in this post. I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of this forum post. I'm tempted to say that you have outdone yourself, but your writing is always consistent in just how good it is. Thanks for yet another wonderful read, I eagerly anticipate the next forum post that you may create. Be it some inspired sequel to this post, or something completely different altogether. At this point I think that it is safe to say that it is only right for me to look toward to your next piece. The level of care and attention to detail that you place into each of your forum posts are always a treat to read and enjoy. Thank you once again, for writing this wonderful and enthralling post.

Endmaster writes a detailed review of a movie or comic book and no one responds.

The Struggle.

Actually I should do another comic book review sometime in the near future.

I also predict that the site will be older than the next person who joins it.

Just got reminded of another:

Banned idiot indignantly declares the callous mods have robbed the good people of this site of the light of their 500 word magnum opus, which they have selflessly labored over for days.

Not sure if that can be shortened to usability though.

Maybe just "The Mods Are Evil!"?
