I'm a little lost on these terms

hi!! I'm rather new to this website and I saw the post for the writing contest about the finno/korea hyper war and saw the mentions of "Lowest pit of SHAME?" upper ring of "SHAME"? I couldn't find context for what SHAME means exactly and was wondering if anyone could tell me ^^ I'm just really curious lolol.

The Pit of Eternal SHAME is pinned in the Writing Workshop, it's where all the slothful souls who flake on their contest entries go.

I think so, not sure what the rank thing is but yeah if you don't submit you get shamed

If someone fails to submit a valid entry, they enter the first level of the Pit of Shame. If this happens a second consecutive time, they are double-shamed (have to pay more points to enter a contest) and a third time, they are barred from joining any future contest*. Mods have a separate layer of shame known as Detroit.

*This is used to be the case until somewhat recently. Now, it's subject to a few exceptions, such as someone else pulling them out like in the current contest, or they may make risky bets like putting their whole account on the line.

Yes. It really only takes a couple of hours to bash out a minimally acceptable storygame, so failing to do even that much in a period of usually two months is just embarassing.

I agree but what would count as a minimally acceptable story game?

It is usually up to the judges, but the story has to be complete (no missing links), is written in a way that shows the author is literate, and with a semblance of a coherent plot. There's no minimum word count, though entries with 2k words or more tend to be accepted. Essentially, if you put in some effort and have a basic grasp of the English language, it's not something you need to worry about.

It needs to meet the usual site standards, aka complete, contains branching, and good enough for a 3/8 rating.

(Look how it's possible to say that with so many less words than Mystic.)

Not lowest pit of SHAME, since it's the SHAME pit not 3 pits in SHAME. Also, what the heck is lolol? And SHAME is awful but people have already explained it so I'll just say do not take SHAME lightly. Funny thing is you have an older account than me.
