I'm new here, and already trying to make a storygame based on one of the prompts i found on this website. i guess i'll alert when i'm done?

Welcome! I'm glad to see that you're already making a storygame (that is what this place is all about, after all), although i would defently recomend brusheng up on yor grammer first. I suggest checking out this article on completing a storygame for a contest, along with a few others such as this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this.

Really, just read a lot of articles.
