Greetings, people of this site. I was looking for virtual second person stories this morning, and found this site. I looked around and found “The Price of Freedom” and thought it was one of the most excellent pieces of short literature I have ever read. My favorite genres are dystopian, historical, and fantasy, and I like serious and dramatic plots. My interests include politics, flags, geography, history, philosophy, and theology. Are there any good games/stories on this site that fit my interests? I also don’t want to read anything that is too liberal/left leaning.

Welcome aboard. Hope you enjoy it here. That said, some unsolicited advice:

EDIT: If you're here just to read, disregard what follows.

Having a hangup about fiction based on its politics shows a lack of imagination and inability to set aside your own biases to immerse yourself in a story. If you can't do that, you probably can't write worth shit, tbh.

I would suggest not being hung up on politics when it comes to stories themselves. On the forums? Go for it. This place has a very diverse set of political views, averaging somewhere in the middle. But for stories? I mean the point is to be someone OTHER than yourself, to CREATE something that is different from yourself to an extent. Etc.

I don't care as much about politics, I'd rather read non political things really, but I just meant I don't want to read any stories with like gay content or trans characters. Otherwise I don't really care unless its entire purpose is just a political message.

Fair. There is no accounting for taste. But you're missing out on hilarious characters like Agent Smecker from Boondock Saints—a HOMOPHOBIC gay man:

Agent Smecker: "What are you doing?" (after bitchslapping dude)

Rando gaydude: "I just wanted to cuddle."

Agent Smecker: "Cuddle? What a fag."

(if you can stomach the scene lol: Boondock Saints | Willem Dafoe "Cuddle?". If only he had said "Lol, fag" instead). EDIT: That's a good movie in general if you like movies that are unapologetically politically incorrect and proudly about being a man.

The other thing you might you might be missing out on is some troubled protagonists when excluding that kind of thing (feeling of isolation or self-loathing are, IMHO, really fun foils for characters, and gay/etc characters are a group that can fit well that sort of thing.)

BUT... in the world of ameteur fiction, a lot of stories centered on sexuality or sex in general are written by teenagers or gooners trying to living out their fantasies, rather than interesting stories about people who happen to be gay. So in that sense you're probably sparing yourself some trash.

The good news for you is the overwhelming majority of stories here are with either straight characters or sexuality is irrelevant.

Try these for something quick?

There's a good amount of historical non fiction by Will11 in particular, but most games aren't stat based the way PoF is, and the highlights of the more prolific authors tend to be grimdark fantasy. I'd recommend just exploring the featured list on the main storygame page and trying to narrow down what authors you like from there. It's pretty difficult for others to pick out what's "too liberal" when that can mean very different things to different people, you're just going to have to browse around and form your own onions on what's available.

Welcome, and thanks for giving me an excuse to promote

The Laconia Incident

I think it should fit your interests, particulary if you find the true ending.
